This table compares the annual premium costs for Allstate compared to the national averages. We used the data for female drivers, but the trend for male drivers remains. For this article’s data and methodology, three tiers of insurance coverage options from each company were averaged. Individual rates will vary by coverage selection and driver profile.

Using the data from the surveys conducted by US News, we compared how satisfied policyholders were with claims resolution. This chart shows the percentage of survey respondents who said they were completely satisfied with claims resolutions.

Allstate Coverage Options
Allstate’s Auto Insurance Coverage Options will be similar to most auto insurance companies. We will explain how each type of coverage protects you financially in the event of an accident or loss.
Allstate Auto Liability
Liability Insurance protects drivers when they’re at fault. Auto liability insurance includes limits for bodily injury and property damage. Remember that whatever is not covered by your insurance will be your payment out of pocket.
- Bodily Injury Liability Coverage covers the medical expenses and lost income of other drivers and their passengers when you’re at fault.
- Property Damage Liability Coverage covers the property damage of other vehicles and property when you’re at fault.
Pro Tip: No matter which insurance carrier you use, select high limits for liability to ensure the most protection. The legal minimum is inadequate coverage because accidents can easily surpass the mandated insurance amounts. And if your claim exceeds your coverage limits, you are responsible for the difference!
Allstate Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist
Uninsured and underinsured coverage will help pay for medical expenses when you’re not at fault. This includes you and your passengers.
Even though insurance is mandated in most states, some people still drive without insurance or with too little insurance. Underinsured and uninsured motorist coverage will provide money for those medical bills.
Collision Coverage through Allstate
Collision insurance covers the cost of replacement or repairs for the driver’s vehicle. Replacement will payout the actual cash value of the car. This coverage is optional unless there’s a lease or loan for the car.
Collision coverage has a deductible. That means you must pay the deductible for each claim before the insurance covers the cost. Deductibles tend to be $500-$1000 dollars.
Pro Tip: Do not choose a deductible you cannot afford in the case of an accident. The insurance company will not pay your claim if you cannot pay the deductible after an accident.

Allstate Comprehensive Coverage
Comprehensive coverage helps pay for damage not caused by a collision with another car. Comprehensive insurance also pays out when the vehicle is stolen. The maximum payout would be for the actual cash value of the vehicle.
Pro Tip: The actual cash value of a vehicle is determined by an adjuster after a claim has taken place. I always encourage my clients to provide the adjusters with comparable vehicles available at dealerships and private party sales to help get a fair price for the vehicle’s value (especially in the case of a total loss).
Examples of things covered by comprehensive insurance:
- Natural disasters or storms
- Damage caused by animals
- Damage from falling objects
- Theft or Vandalism
- Shattered or broken windshields and windows
Comprehensive insurance also has a deductible. You will have to pay the deductible for each claim before the insurance covers any costs.
Medical Payments Coverage from Allstate
Medical payments coverage protects you as the carrier regardless of which driver is at fault. Coverage extends to family members on the policy. Expenses like doctor’s visits, an ambulance, surgeries, and nursing care associated with an accident are covered.
This type of coverage extends to situations where you or your covered family members are injured as passengers in another vehicle or as pedestrians.
Personal Injury Protection Coverage
Often combined with medical payments coverage, Allstate offers Personal Injury Protection (PIP). Personal Injury Protection also helps cover income from lost wages, childcare needs after an injury, and funeral expenses.
PIP is not available in every state, but it is legally required in others. An insurance agent can help you determine what is needed in your state.
Pro Tip: In states where PIP is required, it is often allowed to be waived. I never recommend that anyone waive PIP coverage as it increases the costs after an accident significantly compared to the actual cost of PIP coverage.
Roadside Assistance through Allstate
Allstate offers three different payment plans for roadside assistance. Two plans are available for customers without an Allstate auto insurance policy.
- For Allstate policyholders, roadside assistance can be added to auto insurance for $25 per vehicle.
- For policyholders and other customers, a membership option is available for as low as $89 for the first year.
- A pay-per-use option is also available to policyholders and other customers. Each tow will cost $149 under the pay-per-use option.
Allstate Roadside offers services in the following services:
- Towing
- Lockouts
- Fuel Delivery
- Jump Starts
- Tire Changes
Roadside services are available through the Allstate app, by calling 1-877-597-3393, or by visiting the website.
Pro Tip: If your insurance carrier doesn’t offer Roadside coverage, you can also purchase a membership through AAA that will cover you as both a driver and a passenger.
Allstate Rental Reimbursement Coverage
Rental Reimbursement Coverage will help pay for the costs of a rental car when your car is in the shop for repairs. This coverage only applies to repairs due to a collision. It does not apply to routine maintenance or repairs not associated with an accident.
What Discounts Does Allstate Offer for Auto Insurance?
Allstate offers several discounts to customers. Most of these discounts can be found with competing carriers as well.
Allstate’s Discounts Include
- Anti-theft device discount
- Discount for Anti-lock brakes
- A discount for paperless statements
- Early signing discount
- Paying in full discount
- Responsible payer discount
- Discount for select students under age 25
- Safe driving club discount
- Discount for automatic withdrawal to pay premiums
- New car discount for the vehicle’s first owner
- Multiple policies (bundling insurance products)
Pro Tip: If you decide to get a quote with Allstate, ask the representative for these discounts. Make a point to ask because sometimes these things get forgotten otherwise (they are not always automatic discounts).
Conclusion: Should You Take an Allstate Auto Insurance Offer?
We found Allstate premiums to be more costly on average. They have a lower satisfaction for claim resolution when compared to other carriers and similar coverage and nearly the same discounts that can be found with most auto insurance companies. If you are in an area of the country where Allstate’s rates are competitive you may still consider options due to the lower satisfaction in claim resolution.
