There are many different reasons why you might need a rental car. Whether you’re traveling and need a vehicle to get around or your car is in the shop and you need a rental until your car can be repaired, rental cars make life easier. Enterprise Rent-A-Car is the leading car rental company, and here’s a closer look at the company as well as some information about what to do if you have an Enterprise rental car insurance claim.
Who Is Enterprise?
Enterprise has been serving customers since 1957. Today the company has a huge network of transportation solutions, from car and truck rentals to car sales and car-sharing. With over 8,000 locations worldwide, you can turn to Enterprise when you need a rental car or truck for any situation.
How to Get an Enterprise Rental Car After an Accident
Enterprise is the best rental car company if you’ve been in an accident and need a rental car until yours is fixed, or until you find a new vehicle. When you file an insurance claim, ask your adjuster about a rental. Depending on your insurance company, Enterprise can directly bill the provider for the entire rental term, or you can get reimbursed. If you don’t have rental reimbursement on your auto insurance policy, you can still take advantage of the discounted rates for a rental.
Enterprise makes it easy to get into your rental after filing a claim. If it’s still drivable, Just reserve the rental for the same day that you plan to bring your car to the shop. An Enterprise agent can pick you up at the repair shop and bring you to the office to complete the paperwork. If your car is not drivable, Enterprise can pick you up from home or work and get you to the office to get your vehicle.
Who Pays For A Rental After an Insurance Claim?
When you have rental reimbursement on your auto insurance policy and you are at fault for the accident, your insurance company will pay for your rental. In most cases, they will cover up to a certain amount per day for the rental, and you can drive the rented vehicle for a certain number of days as determined by the repair shop’s estimate for the time it will take to fix your car. If you are not at fault for the accident, the other driver’s insurance company will pay for the rental.
In many cases, Enterprise sets up a direct bill with the insurance company, but you might need to pay a small deposit when you pick up the car. If the rental is not covered by insurance, Enterprise asks for a full deposit of $350.
What Happens If I Get Into An Accident While Driving an Enterprise Rental Car?
Accidents happen, even when you’re in a rental. If you get into an accident while driving an Enterprise rental car, you should first call the police to report the accident. Then contact the branch where you rented the car or call the Roadside Assistance line at 1-800-307-6666 if the branch is closed. You don’t have to submit an Enterprise rental car insurance claim, but you must submit a damage report either over the phone to a rental representative or in person when you return the car.
The police report will also need to be submitted. Once the rental office reviews the documents, a loss control employee will contact you with any questions or to provide information about the next steps, if there are any.
If you opted out of the available damage waiver, you’d then need to submit a claim to your insurance company if you are found at fault for the accident. If another driver is involved and found at fault, Enterprise will work with their company to submit the claim.
What Is Rental Car Insurance?
Enterprise offers additional products to help protect you and the rental if you get into an accident.
Damage Waiver
The Damage Waiver is an optional coverage that Enterprise offers for an additional daily fee. If you purchase the waiver, Enterprise will waive your responsibility for any damage to the vehicle. It covers damage and loss or theft. This waiver is different than insurance. You don’t have to file an Enterprise rental car insurance claim and you don’t have to file a claim with your insurance company.
Before deciding to purchase the waiver, check with your provider to find out what kind of coverage you have for a rental.
Personal Accident Insurance
Enterprise offers personal accident insurance and personal effects coverage for an additional daily fee. You can get this coverage at the time of the rental. It provides the renter and any passenger they have in the vehicle with coverage for accidental death, medical expenses, and it will cover the ambulance transport. The personal effects coverage will insure personal items of the renter, members of their family, and additional drivers.
Supplemental Liability Protection
The optional supplemental liability protection provides authorized drivers with up to $300,000 of third-party liability coverage.
Roadside Assistance Protection
The Roadside Assistance Protection allows customers to waive their financial responsibility for roadside assistance services such as lockouts, fuel outages, and lost keys.
Auto Rental Coverage Levels
The amount that your insurance company will pay for a rental car after an accident varies by company and policy. When you buy your policy, make sure you choose rental car coverage and look at the available amounts. You’ll want to have enough to pay for the rental and tax if you don’t want to have to pay anything out of pocket. Most policies also have a maximum dollar amount that it will pay. For example, it might pay $45 a day for up to $1400.
