Navigating Tesla’s Phone Menu

Once a caller has dialed Tesla’s number at 1-844-348-3752, the caller will be routed through a menu.

Menu Options

Tesla’s main insurance line has three menu options.

  • Press 1: To File a Claim or for questions about an existing claim
  • Press 2: For questions about an existing policy, an existing quote, or to get a new quote
  • Press 9: To enter a direct extension

Press One: Claims

After pressing one, customers will be routed through the second set of menu options related to claims.

  1. Press 1 for questions about an existing claim

In order to access information about an existing claim, you will need to reference your claim number.

  1. Press 2 for a roadside or glass-only claim

At this point, callers will be directed to file glass-only claims in the Tesla app. To continue beyond this point for a roadside claim, you will need your five-digit zip code listed on the policy.

  1. Press 3 to submit a new claim that is not roadside or glass

At this point, callers will be directed to file a new comprehensive or collision claim in their Tesla App. For callers unable to use the app, they will need the five-digit zip code associated with their policy.

Press Two: Questions about Policies or Quotes

Once a caller has pressed two from the main menu, the operator routes the caller to a representative.

Press Nine: Extension

After entering nine, callers will need the extension of the party they wish to reach. This may be helpful if you have an extension for a claims adjuster or agent and you need to reach them.

Love, black couple and road trip driver, vacation or summer holiday. Happy, smile and man, woman and travel in car bonding, fun and spending quality time together on romantic getaway in happiness

How to Speak to a Person

The phone menu is limited to the keypad. Asking to speak to a representative will not affect the AI operator.

Pro Tip: If you are calling about policy questions or an insurance quote, the menu will quickly route you to a person after dialing “2” from the main menu.

If you call about a claim, you will be routed through a series of menus. Each menu will direct you to file a claim through the app. If you choose to proceed over the phone, you will need the zip code listed in your policy.

Does Tesla Offer 24/7 Customer Support?

The phone menu is available 24/7. Customers can receive instructions for using the app from the recorded menu options. Tesla offers Roadside Assistance 24/7 to customers with a roadside policy.

Pro Tip: Claims are filed through the app and can be done anytime.

Do Teslas Need Special Insurance?

Teslas can be insured by any insurance company that will offer a quote. Teslas are considered luxury vehicles for most insurance purposes and have hefty premiums.

To make insuring a Tesla more affordable, Tesla offers in-house insurance for Teslas in the following states:

  • Arizona
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Illinois
  • Maryland
  • Minnesota
  • Nevada
  • Ohio
  • Oregon
  • Texas
  • Utah
  • Virginia

Tesla promises to provide competitively priced comprehensive insurance for Teslas in more states soon.

Pro Tip: Call Tesla directly if you have questions. Tesla’s website has limited information about in-house coverage, but it’s easy to reach a person on the phone with policy questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it expensive to insure a Tesla?

Teslas are expensive to insure because they are considered luxury vehicles. Comprehensive and Collision coverages are also expensive because the battery on electric cars is costly to replace.

Does Tesla insurance offer discounts?

Tesla insurance tracks the driver in real time and provides information. Premiums are generated using driver behavior, location of the car, distance driven, and the model of the Tesla. Driver behavior replaces metrics used by other insurance companies, like the gender and age of the driver.

How do you file a claim with Tesla Insurance?

The easiest way to file a claim with Tesla insurance is through the Tesla app.

  1. In the app, select your profile picture.
  2. Select “Account”
  3. Then “Insurance”
  4. From there, select “Claims”

Does Tesla Insurance cover glass?

Tesla Insurance with Roadside Assistance covers glass. Glass claims can easily be made through the Tesla App.
