1. 2021 XC40 by Volvo
Volvo’s 2021 XC40 is a midsize four-door SUV. It’s the cheapest pre-owned vehicle to insure in Connecticut. A full coverage policy for this vehicle is $80 per month, which is $49 less than the state’s average cost of a full insurance policy. A liability-only policy costs $55 per month.
Volvo’s XC40 is also a Top Safety Pick+ award winner, with great crash test safety results. It also offers a hybrid engine, reduced tailpipe emissions, and driver assistance technology.
2. 2021 Bronco Sport by Ford
Ford’s 2021 Bronco Sport is the second cheapest vehicle to insure in Connecticut. This four-door SUV costs $84 to insure monthly with a full coverage policy, which is $45 less than the average policy. You can also get a liability-only policy for just $55.

We used vehicles on the IIHS 2021 Top Safety Pick+ 2021 list. The IIHS is an independent, nonprofit organization that collects safety data for cars on the market.
We used the following limits for liability-only quotes:
- $100,000/$300,000 liability limits
- $100,000 property damage limits
- $10,000 personal injury protection
For the full-coverage quotes, we included the following coverages with the liability selections:
- $1,000 deductible on collision coverage
- $1,000 deductible for comprehensive coverage
- $50/$1,500 rental reimbursement
- $100 roadside assistance
