Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cheapest SUV to insure in Indiana?

The 2021 Volvo XC40 is the cheapest SUV to insure in Indiana. A full-coverage policy will only cost you $317 a month.

Are older cars cheaper to insure?

How much liability insurance is required in Indiana?

Indiana requires drivers to carry minimum liability insurance coverage of $25,000 bodily injury per person, $50,000 bodily injury per accident, and $25,000 for property damage.

Insurance rates for liability coverage vary by the driver’s age, marital status, driving record, credit score, and zip code.

What is the penalty for driving without insurance in Indiana?

The penalties for drivers caught without insurance in Indiana include the possibility of being unable to drive for a year, per the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles. First offenders face a $250 reinstatement fee, driver’s license suspension of at least 90 days, and an SR-22 certificate for 180 days.

For a second offense there is a $500 reinstatement fee and your driver’s license will be suspended for one year, with the possibility of having your registration suspended for one year. You’ll also have to have an SR-22 certificate for three years.

After your third or subsequent offense, you’ll face a $1,000 reinstatement fee with your driver’s license suspended for one year and maybe your registration as well. In addition, you’ll have to have an SR-22 certificate for five years.

What is the basic insurance for a car?

Liability-only coverage is the basic insurance for a car. This insurance covers the cost of property damage to the other driver in an at-fault accident. Lenders may require drivers to purchase full-coverage insurance, including comprehensive and collision coverage.

What car has the highest insurance rates?

Luxury, rare, and high-performance cars often get higher insurance rate quotes, due to their more expensive replacement costs. Shop lenders to find the cheapest car insurance if you have any of the abovementioned vehicles.
