What’s Included in Your 2005 Honda CR-V Warranty?

Every new Honda vehicle, including the 2005 CR-V, comes with a factory warranty, also known as a manufacturer’s warranty. This guide can help you determine if your CR-V is still under warranty and whether your warranty covers components like the battery, paint, and tires. Warranty durations are listed in time or mileage, whichever comes first. For example, a warranty that provides three years or 36,000 miles of coverage will expire after three years or after you hit 36,000 miles if this comes first.

Factory Warranty

2005 Honda CR-V New Vehicle Limited Warranty

The 2005 Honda CR-V came with a three-year, 36,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty starting on the original date of delivery or leasing. As of 2022, this warranty has expired.

Under this warranty, Honda would repair or replace parts that were defective due to normal use at no cost to the CR-V owner. Exclusions included everyday wear and tear, cleaning and polishing, and most window glass damage.

2005 Honda CR-V Powertrain Warranty

Honda did not offer a standalone powertrain warranty in 2005. Instead, the Basic Warranty also covered the powertrain for three years or 36,000 miles. This covered repair or replacement of the engine, transmission, transaxle, front-wheel-drive system, and rear-wheel-drive system. As of 2022, this warranty has expired.

Rust Perforation Limited Warranty

The 2005 Honda CR-V came with a five-year unlimited mileage Rust Perforation Limited Warranty. This warranty covered the repair or replacement of any body panels rusted completely through. As of 2022, this warranty has expired.

Air Conditioning Warranty

The 2005 Honda CR-V’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty covered the air conditioner refrigerant for one year with unlimited mileage. As of 2022, this coverage has expired.

Paint Warranty

The 2005 Honda CR-V’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty did not cover paint. The Rust Perforation Limited Warranty did not cover rust caused by paint damage from road debris or painting the CR-V to match the paint after repairs.

Replacement Battery Limited Warranty

The 2005 Honda CR-V came with a three-year, unlimited mileage Original Equipment Battery Limited Warranty that covered the replacement of the original equipment battery. As of 2022, this warranty has now expired.

Tire Warranty

Honda does not provide warranty coverage for the Honda CR-V’s tires. The tires that came as original equipment on your CR-V are warranted by their manufacturer in a separate warranty statement provided by your Honda dealer.

Emissions Warranty

Air pollution from vehicle exhaust pipe on road. Pollution of environment

The 2005 Honda CR-V came with a three-year, 36,000-mile Emissions Warranty that covered repair or replacement of emissions system parts that were defective under normal use. CR-Vs sold in California, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and Vermont were covered for three years or 50,000 miles. As of 2022, this warranty has expired.

2005 Honda CR-V Warranty Extensions Available Upon Purchase

A warranty extension for the 2005 Honda CR-V was available for purchase before the original New Vehicle Limited Warranty expired. While a Honda warranty extension was transferrable to subsequent owners, as of 2022, this purchase and transfer period has expired.
