What Your 2006 Honda Ridgeline Warranty Covers

If you own a 2006 Honda Ridgeline, you want to know what to do if something goes wrong. Your vehicle’s factory warranty can help you learn about what parts of your vehicle were covered under its original warranty. If you’re uncertain what kinds of repairs Honda will cover, we have the details.

The 2006 Honda Ridgeline came with a New Vehicle Limited Warranty in addition to other types of limited coverage. While this basic warranty has expired, you may still want to learn more about coverage options. For instance, you might want to know if your original Honda warranty covered tires, replacement batteries, or emissions.

As you read, keep in mind that warranties are listed in durations of time or mileage, whichever comes first. For example, the New Vehicle Limited Warranty expired after three years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurred first. If you still have questions about your vehicle coverage, check out the FAQ section at the bottom of the article for more information.

Factory Warranty

2006 Honda Ridgeline Basic Warranty

Each new 2006 Honda Ridgeline had warranty coverage for three years or 36,000 miles. This New Vehicle Limited Warranty covered most components, except for the vehicle tires.

While Honda’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty covered most components of the vehicle, it only covered damage caused during manufacturing. This means that the problem must have been caused by a factory defect, like a damaged or defective component.

2006 Honda Ridgeline Powertrain Warranty

The Powertrain Limited Warranty covered the 2006 Honda Ridgeline for five years or 60,000 miles. This warranty coverage was available for the engine, transmission, and transaxle assembly.

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

Honda’s Rust Perforation Warranty covered body panels that experienced significant rust damage as a result of a factory defect or poor workmanship. The Rust Perforation Warranty was available for five years with unlimited miles.

Air Conditioning Warranty

Honda covered the air conditioner as part of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. These components were covered for three years or 36,000 miles.

Paint Warranty

Honda did not offer a warranty to cover paint for the 2006 Honda Ridgeline. Cosmetic defects may have been covered only if they were found immediately by the buyer upon the initial delivery of the vehicle.

Battery Warranty

The original 2006 Ridgeline battery was completely covered by an Original Equipment Battery Limited Warranty for three years with no mileage limit. This included the costs of labor and installation.

Tire Warranty

Honda did not offer a separate Tire Warranty for the 2006 Honda Ridgeline. The tire manufacturer offered its own warranty. You can call the Honda dealership where you bought your vehicle to learn more about this warranty coverage.

Emissions Warranty

The Federal Emissions Warranty covered defects and performance influencing the emissions systems of the vehicle. Coverage was available for three years or 36,000 miles.

For Honda Ridgeline owners living in some states, the California Emissions Warranty provided additional coverage of three years or 50,000 miles.

According to the Clean Air Act, vehicle manufacturers are required to cover some emissions components longer than other parts. For example, Honda and other manufacturers must cover components like the engine computer and catalytic converter for eight years or 80,000 miles. For the 2006 Honda Ridgeline, this coverage has expired.

2006 Honda Ridgeline Warranty Extensions Available Upon Car Purchase

Upon buying a 2006 Honda Ridgeline, owners may have been offered an extended service contract, sometimes called an extended warranty. This contract offered through Honda Care would extend beyond the New Vehicle Limited Warranty for up to eight years or 120,000 miles.

Unfortunately, even if you purchased the maximum Honda Care contract, it would have expired years ago.

FAQs

The 2006 Honda Ridgeline has lifetime coverage for seat belts. If the seat belts fail to function properly at any point, contact a Honda dealership for information about repairing or replacing them. This warranty won’t cover cosmetic repairs though, or damage resulting from an accident or misuse.

This Emissions System Warranty covers multiple systems in the vehicle. They include the crankcase control system, evaporative and refueling emissions control system, exhaust gas recirculation system, exhaust system, ignition system, fuel injection system, OBD system, transmission control system, intake air system, secondary air injection system, VTEC system, VTC system, and integrated motor assist system.

The Rust Perforation Limited Warranty only covered rust that has worked through the body of the vehicle from the inside. The warranty did not cover rust on the underbody of the vehicle or on other components aside from body panels. Additionally, the warranty didn’t cover rust on body panels that were replaced or refinished, unless they were previously replaced under this warranty.
