What Your 2008 Honda Ridgeline Warranty Covers
The 2008 Honda Ridgeline warranty covered quite a bit on this truck, but the vast majority of it has long since expired given the age of the vehicle. While your factory warranty likely won’t offer much now, it’s still important to understand the kind of coverage the Ridgeline used to be equipped with as a reference for any potential new warranties you may outfit this truck with.
When it comes to warranties, there are quite a few potentially confusing terms to understand. You need to know how warranty terms are expressed, with limits stated in both years and mileage. Expiration happens when you reach either threshold.

Factory Warranty
2008 Honda Ridgeline Basic Warranty
The New Vehicle Limited Warranty for the 2008 Honda Ridgeline lasted for three years or 36,000 miles, depending on which came first, and it covered pretty much everything in the vehicle that could have a problem due to a factory defect. If something wasn’t warranted separately, it generally fell into this category.
2008 Honda Ridgeline Powertrain Warranty
The Powertrain Limited Warranty for the Ridgeline lasted for five years or 60,000 miles, depending on which came first, and it covered the engine and all its parts along with the drivetrain and transmission. All of this was also included in the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, but the Powertrain Limited Warranty ensured additional coverage.
Corrosion Perforation Warranty
Corrosion perforation was covered for five years without any mileage limitation. Just keep in mind that if an old body panel was replaced, even by a Honda dealer, only the original Rust Perforation Warranty applied. It never reset.
Air Conditioning Warranty
The air conditioner was covered for three years or 36,000 miles under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty on the 2008 Ridgeline. Just note that recharging the refrigerant was only covered for a year after purchase unless it was replaced as part of another repair that was covered under warranty.
Paint Warranty
The paint was warranted under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, and that only extended to factory defects that manifested within the three-year or 36,000-mile limitation. Any damage caused by accidents or paint matching efforts was never covered by warranty.
Battery Warranty
The original equipment battery was covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty for three years or unlimited miles. As of 2022, this warranty has expired.
Tire Warranty
Tires on the 2008 Ridgeline are warranted separately from the rest of the truck and are issued by the tire manufacturers themselves. The Ridgeline could be equipped with a variety of different tires, so you’ll have to contact the tire manufacturer directly for the details. Your local Honda dealer can help you make contact.
Emissions Warranty
The Federal Emissions Warranty for the 2008 Ridgeline depended on where you live. In 43 states, the general limit was three years or 36,000 miles, but California and the six other states that follow special standards saw coverage for three years or 50,000 miles. Some parts, like the catalytic converter, engine computer, and onboard diagnostics, were covered for even longer with a limit of eight years or 80,000 miles, thanks to the Clean Air Act .

2008 Honda Ridgeline Warranty Extensions Available Upon Car Purchase
When the 2008 Ridgeline was first purchased, there was typically the option to opt for an extended warranty. This extended warranty increased the period of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty to eight years or 120,000 miles, but even that would’ve expired by now.

FAQs
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about the 2008 Honda Ridgeline warranty.
How Reliable Is the 2008 Ridgeline?
The 2008 Ridgeline is consistently rated among the top trucks most likely to last 200,000 miles, so it’s a good idea to get additional warranty coverage for the vehicle. It’s likely to still last for quite some time.
Is A Replacement Battery Still Covered On My 2008 Honda Ridgeline?
Replacement battery warranties on Honda vehicles, including the 2008 Ridgeline, work on a tiered system, with full coverage for replacement lasting three years. Beginning in month 37, however, coverage drops to 60% and continues to drop by 10% every 10 months or so. Eventually, it expired after 100 months, or eight years and four months.
Which States Abide by California Emissions Rules?
California emissions rules extend coverage of some emissions parts to seven years or 70,000 miles. California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont use these standards rather than the federal standards.
Are There Any Warranties Still Active?
The Seat Belt Warranty may still be active even if you bought the Ridgeline back in 2008, as its coverage lasts for 15 years or 150,000 miles. Just note that it only applies to problems with normal functionality rather than comfort or cosmetic issues.
With all the benefits of an extended warranty, it’s no surprise that so many 2008 Ridgeline drivers are opting for expanded coverage. When you get extended warranty coverage for a truck that’s served faithfully for so many years, you can continue to drive with confidence and peace of mind.
