At the end of the article, we’ve included an FAQ section that answers additional questions people have about their warranty coverage for the 2008 S2000. Note that limits are listed in both time and miles, but the cap is for whichever comes first. So vehicles that reach the mileage limit before the time limit is up are no longer under warranty.
Factory Warranty
2008 Honda S2000 Basic Warranty
Your New Vehicle Limited Warranty started the day you took ownership of your 2008 Honda S2000. The coverage was good for three years or 36,000 miles and is now expired. It paid for parts that were defective due to poor workmanship or low-quality materials. Exclusions of this warranty included:
- Adding fluids
- Cleaning and polishing
- Repairing normal wear and tear
- Replacing parts that deteriorate naturally, like spark plugs, filters, and brake pads
- Fixing scratched, broken, or chipped window glass
2008 Honda S2000 Powertrain Warranty
The Powertrain Limited Warranty for your S2000 went into effect on the same day as your New Vehicle Limited Warranty and remained valid for five years or 60,000 miles. This coverage is expired. It paid for repairs on engine components, the transmission, the transaxle, and the drive system. Some of the components this warranty encompassed included:
- Cylinder block and heads and all internal parts
- Valve covers
- Intake and exhaust manifolds
- Oil pump, fuel pump, and water pump
- Torque converter
- Transfer case and all internal parts
- Seals and gaskets
Corrosion Perforation Warranty
A 2008 Honda S2000’s original owner could make a claim using the Rust Perforation Limited Warranty to replace any panels that rusted through entirely. This coverage was good for five years and had no mileage limit, but it’s now expired. It had several exclusions that included not paying for rusted underbody panels or panels that rusted because of:
- Immersion in mud, water, or sand
- Abuse or misuse
- Road debris or hazards
- Corrosive gas or industrial fallout
Honda also didn’t pay for paint matching to ensure the new panels matched the paint color of the rest of the vehicle, although they did try to get the new panels close to the original paint color when possible.
Air Conditioning Warranty
The components of your 2008 S2000 air conditioning system didn’t have a separate warranty. If the components of your 2008 S2000 air conditioning system failed due to defective workmanship, they were covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, which has expired. Recharging the coolant was taken care of under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty for the first year unless part of other warranty work.
Paint Warranty
Honda doesn’t provide a warranty for the paint job on your S2000 or anything related to its appearance. If there were defects in the paint or body when you took ownership, they needed to be addressed right away with the dealership.
Battery Warranty
An Original Equipment Battery Limited Warranty would have paid to replace the battery in your 2008 Honda S2000 for the first three years of ownership. This coverage included labor and installation. The warranty is now expired.
Tire Warranty
Tires for all Honda vehicles are covered under a separate warranty that comes directly from the manufacturer. A warranty statement could be found in the glove box, and you can contact your Honda dealer if you need help with your Tire Warranty details. Your tires likely came from one of the following tire companies:
Emissions Warranty
For three years or 36,000 miles, your 2008 Honda S2000 had coverage for the emissions system under the Federal Emissions Warranty. In California and select states, the coverage lasted for 50,000 miles, and some parts were covered for seven years or 70,000 miles. Because of the Clean Air Act standards, some parts of the emissions system had coverage for eight years or 80,000 miles, including the catalytic converter. All coverage has now expired.
The major components included in the Federal Emissions Warranty were:
- Crankcase control system
- Evaporative and refueling emissions control systems
- Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system
- Exhaust system
- Ignition system
- Fuel injection system
- OBD system
- Transmission control system
- Intake air system
- Valve control system

FAQs
Consider these answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about the 2008 Honda S2000 warranty:
Is There a Seat Belt Warranty for the 2008 Honda S2000?
On the same day as the New Vehicle Warranty started, you also had a Seat Belt Limited Warranty go into effect that pays to replace your defective seat belts. This coverage is good for 15 years or 150,000 miles. It won’t replace your seat belts strictly for comfort reasons or for their appearance. The Seat Belt Limited Warranty is still in effect for S2000s that haven’t hit the 150,000-mile limit.
Are the Accessories for the 2008 Honda S2000 Covered by Warranty?
Any accessories your vehicle had prior to the retail sale were covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, so they’re no longer under warranty. If you had accessories installed by a Honda dealer after you took possession of the vehicle, they were covered for the remainder of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty or for one year or 12,000 miles. Accessories bought from a Honda dealer but installed at another location had a one-year warranty.
Does the 2008 Honda S2000 Warranty Cover a Replacement Battery?
If you had a replacement battery installed on your 2008 Honda S2000, it came with a 100-month warranty. This coverage would pay for a new battery, labor, and installation for the first three years. After that, the coverage only paid a portion of the replacement cost and didn’t cover any labor or installation fees. Your replacement battery is no longer under warranty.
What Can Void a Honda Warranty?
A Honda warranty becomes void if you misuse or abuse any parts of your vehicle. Not getting scheduled maintenance on time or regularly can also void the warranty coverage. Make sure you only drive the vehicle as intended based on the terms and conditions found in the owner’s manual.
Hopefully, you found all the information you need on your 2008 Honda S2000 warranty and its coverage details here.
