All About Your 2013 Honda Fit Warranty

The 2013 Honda Fit came with a factory warranty. The most extensive warranty, the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, lasted for three years or 36,000 miles. It is expired. Most of the major warranties, like the Powertrain Warranty, have also expired.

While most warranty coverage for the 2013 Honda Fit has expired, owners might find it helpful to know which coverage was available. If you still have questions about warranty coverage, read the Frequently Asked Questions at the end of the article for additional information.

Even though most of the warranties through Honda have expired, we’ll also explain where to find third-party warranties for your 2013 Honda Fit.

Total Unique Recalls6

A manufacturer’s warranty tells the owner of a vehicle what kinds of repairs and replacements the manufacturer will provide because of defects and poor workmanship. Honda’s Manufacturer’s Warranty, also known as a Factory Warranty, spells out policies that cover the powertrain, emissions control systems, and other parts of the 2013 Honda Fit.

2013 Honda Fit Basic Warranty

Word " Warranty" printed on a white paper

Honda’s Basic Warranty is the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. This coverage lasted for three years or 36,000 miles and has expired. This coverage repaired or replaced any defective parts not covered by other warranties in the brochure.

The date on which the New Vehicle Limited Warranty began was the date the owner bought or leased the vehicle. It also provided one year of wheel balancing and wheel alignment and covered the key fob and remote batteries for the first six months of possession.

2013 Honda Fit Powertrain Warranty

The Powertrain Limited Warranty covered the 2013 Honda Fit’s powertrain components for five years or 60,000 miles. The powertrain coverage has expired. This warranty covered the repair or replacement of any powertrain parts that were defective due to materials or workmanship.

The warranty covered the engine, including the timing chain, valve covers, oil pump, intake and exhaust manifolds, water pump, and fuel pump. It covered the transmission and front-wheel-drive system, including the driveshafts, front hubs, seals, and gaskets.

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

The Rust Perforation Limited Warranty covered the 2013 Honda Fit for five years with no mileage limit. Only the vehicle’s original owner could use the coverage, which has since expired. Under the warranty, Honda repaired or replaced body panels of the vehicle that had rusted through.

Air Conditioning Warranty

The air conditioning system was covered by the Federal Emissions Warranty. Coverage was available for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurred first. Air conditioner refrigerant was covered for two years or 24,000 miles.

Paint Warranty

Honda did not offer a Paint Warranty for the 2013 Fit. Coverage for paint and other cosmetic damages was also not available as part of the Manufacturer’s Warranty.

Battery Warranty

Honda covered the 2013 Fit’s original vehicle battery as part of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Coverage was available for three years, but it has expired.

Tire Warranty

The tires that came with the 2013 Honda Fit did not have a Honda Factory Warranty. Instead, these tires were warrantied by their original manufacturers. The spare tire was included in this warranty. Contact a Honda dealer to learn more about your tire manufacturer’s warranty.

Emissions Warranty

The Federal Emissions Warranties included the Design and Defects Warranty and Emissions Performance Warranty. These warranties were available for three years or 36,000 miles and covered a variety of emissions components. This coverage is no longer available.

The Federal Emissions Warranties included

  • Valve control system
  • Transmission control system
  • Fuel injection system
  • Exhaust gas recirculation system

The Federal Emissions Warranties didn’t cover malfunctions or failures related to abuse, accidents, or misuse. Additionally, they didn’t cover maintenance items, such as spark plugs and filters, or damage related to loss of use of the vehicle.

In California and several other states, the California Emissions Warranty applied. The Manufacturer’s Warranty coverage lasted three years or 50,000 miles. It also covered smog check failure repairs. Additionally, this warranty covered emissions system parts that were deemed defective for seven years or 70,000 miles.

Under the Clean Air Act, Honda is required to cover certain components of the emissions system for a longer period. This means Honda covered components such as onboard diagnostics and the catalytic converter for eight years or 80,000 miles. This coverage has expired.
