Find Out What Your 2014 Honda Fit Warranty Covers
A Factory Warranty, which is the same thing as a Manufacturer’s Warranty, can save you money if your vehicle fails to perform as designed. The 2014 Honda Fit factory warranties included a Basic Warranty, Powertrain Warranty, and others. Most of these warranties have expired.
Warranty coverage helps protect your budget, but is it still valid? With this guide, we’ll help you figure out what coverage you still have access to—if any.
We’ll also provide the answers to some common questions in our FAQ section, share the latest recalls, and tell you what you can do to replace your expired protection.

2014 Honda Fit Basic Warranty
Under Honda’s Basic Warranty, also called the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, the manufacturer would have repaired or replaced any defective part on your 2014 Fit for three years or 36,000 miles, free of charge. Unfortunately, this coverage is now expired.
The New Vehicle Limited Warranty also covered wiper blade inserts, key fob batteries, and remote batteries for six months, plus wheel balancing and wheel alignment for one year or 12,000 miles. However, some things on your hatchback were not covered under this Factory Warranty, including:
- Normal wear or tear
- Cleaning and polishing
- Adding fluids (unless part of a covered repair)
- Broken window glass (unless defective)
- Cosmetic flaws
- Damage to the body or paint
- Routine maintenance parts (such as air filters)
2014 Honda Fit Powertrain Warranty
Your 2014 Fit’s powertrain, including the engine, transmission, transaxle, and front-wheel-drive system, was protected for five years or 60,000 miles. Honda would have repaired or replaced defective parts free of charge. However, this warranty has expired.
Corrosion Perforation Warranty
Honda offered a nontransferable Rust Perforation Limited Warranty that protected your 2014 Honda Fit for five years with no mileage limits. However, only the original vehicle owner could claim this warranty. It’s expired.
Honda’s corrosion protection policy covered body panels that were perforated by rust from the inside out, as well as warrantied panels previously serviced for any remaining term of the original five-year period. This warranty had many exclusions, including surface rust on the underbody and rust caused by lack of maintenance, road hazards, or immersion in corrosive materials such as water.
Air Conditioning Warranty
Your 2014 Honda Fit’s air conditioning system was covered for three years or 36,000 miles under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, but this coverage has lapsed. The refrigerant was covered for two years or 24,000 miles — unless required under another warrantied repair.
Paint Warranty
The 2014 Fit did not come with a paint warranty, and the Factory Warranty did not cover cosmetic flaws or damage. Furthermore, even if the damage was covered under your Rust Perforation Limited Warranty, Honda would not authorize painting the whole car just to match colors.
Battery Warranty
Honda covered your 2014 Fit’s original 12-volt battery for three years or 36,000 miles under its New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The manufacturer agreed to replace your defective battery for free, including costs for labor and installation. This benefit is now expired.
Tire Warranty
The original tires that came on your Honda were warrantied separately by their manufacturer. While it’s unlikely your vehicle still has its original tires, you can always contact your local dealership for assistance if you think your tires are covered.
In 2014, Honda used the following tire manufacturers to equip the Fit hatchback:
- Yokohama (800-722-9888)
- Michelin (800-847-3435)
- Goodyear/Dunlop (800-321-2136)
- Continental (800-847-3349)
- Bridgestone/Firestone (800-367-3872)
Emissions Warranty
Honda’s Emissions-Related Defects and Performance Warranties covered your 2014 Fit for a minimum of three years or 36,000 miles, with additional coverage on selected components. It protected your exhaust, ignition, and fuel injection parts. This warranty has expired.
The Clean Air Act also requires Honda to cover the engine computer, catalytic converter, and onboard diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles. You might still benefit from this coverage, but only if your odometer reading is within guidelines.
As a 2014 Fit owner, you might have had access to additional coverage if your vehicle failed a smog check. A growing number of states have adopted the California Emissions Warranty. If your area has stringent emission regulations, you might have been protected for three years or 50,000 miles. These states include
- California
- Connecticut
- Delaware
- Maine
- Maryland
- Massachusetts
- New Jersey
- Oregon
- Pennsylvania
- Rhode Island
- Vermont
- Washington

FAQs
Here are some additional questions other 2014 Honda Fit owners have asked our automotive experts about warranty coverage:
What Is Honda's Replacement Battery Limited Warranty?
Batteries for a 2014 Honda Fit are protected for up to eight years and four months under the Replacement Battery Limited Warranty. During the first three years, Honda would have replaced a defective battery at no cost to you, including parts, labor, and installation, regardless of mileage.
Are Any Warranties Still in Effect for the 2014 Honda Fit?
Honda offers a 15-year or 150,000-mile warranty on its seat belts, which might still be valid if your Fit is under the mileage limit. Seatbelts will only be covered for manufacturing defects. Cosmetic or comfort claims are not covered.
How Do You Quality for the Emissions Warranty?
The 2014 Honda Fit Emissions Warranties have expired. When coverage was in effect, if your car failed an EPA-approved test, you took your car and a copy of the report to an authorized Honda dealer for repairs.
2014 Honda Fit Warranty Conclusion
Your 2014 Honda Fit came with outstanding warranty protection. However, many of the components are no longer covered. So if you plan to keep your vehicle, now might be the ideal time to look for an extended policy.
