2016 Honda Fit Basic Warranty
The New Vehicle Limited Warranty covered the 2016 Honda Fit for three years or 36,000 miles. Coverage has expired, but this Basic Warranty provided coverage for most car components impacted by a defect. The New Vehicle Limited Warranty began when the first owner purchased or leased the vehicle.
- Coverage also included key fobs, remotes, and wiper blade inserts for six months.
- It covered wheel balancing and wheel alignment for one year or 12,000 miles.
- The warranty did not cover cosmetic issues not caused by a defect in material or workmanship.
2016 Honda Fit Powertrain Warranty
Honda’s Powertrain Limited Warranty covered the 2016 Honda Fit for five years or 60,000 miles. The warranty covered the engine and transmission components, including the powertrain control module, timing belt, valve covers, water pump, fuel pump, and more. This coverage has expired.
Corrosion Perforation Warranty
The 2016 Honda Fit was covered by the Rust Perforation Limited Warranty. The warranty covered the vehicle for five years with no mileage limit, but it has now expired.
The Rust Perforation Limited Warranty only covered body panels that rusted through completely. It did not cover surface rust. This coverage was only available to the vehicle’s first owner.
Air Conditioning Warranty
The Federal Emissions Warranty accounted for the air conditioning system and covered it for three years or 36,000 miles. Honda only covered air conditioner refrigerant for two years or 24,000 miles under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. All coverage has expired.
Paint Warranty
The New Vehicle Limited Warranty may have covered some cosmetic defects as long as they were related to defective materials or workmanship. However, paint was not explicitly listed in this warranty, and Honda did not offer a specific paint warranty.
Battery Warranty
The original battery in the 2016 Honda Fit was covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The warranty covered the 12-volt battery for three years or 36,000 miles, but this coverage has expired.
Tire Warranty
Honda did not offer a tire warranty for the 2016 Honda Fit. The tire manufacturer warrantied the original tires. Owners can contact Honda for information about tire manufacturers’ warranties.
Emissions Warranty
Although some of the Emissions Warranty has expired, some parts of the 2016 Honda Fit have coverage under the Clean Air Act. This covers the engine computer, onboard diagnostics, and catalytic converter for eight years or 80,000 miles.
The more comprehensive emissions warranty, the Federal Emissions Warranty, covered the 2016 Honda Fit for three years or 36,000 miles and has now expired. This warranty covered the emissions systems of the vehicle, including defective parts and parts that caused the vehicle to fail an EPA-approved test.
In California and several other states, Honda provides additional coverage. The California Emissions Warranty was extended to three years or 50,000 miles, though this coverage has also expired.
2016 Honda Fit Warranty Extensions Available Upon Car Purchase
When you purchased your 2016 Honda Fit, you may have been offered an extended warranty through Honda Care. The dealer may have offered an extended vehicle service contract that would expand coverage of your vehicle for up to eight years or 120,000 miles.
Contact a Honda dealership or access MyGarage to learn more about whether you purchased this contract. This warranty had to be purchased within the first three years of ownership.
