All About Your 2017 Honda Fit Warranty

While the New Vehicle Limited Warranty and several other policies may have expired for the 2017 Honda Fit, your vehicle might still have some coverage. For example, there is still Emissions Warranty coverage for some components of the 2017 Honda Fit under the Clean Air Act.

If you own a 2017 Honda Fit, you may have questions about warranty coverage. We sorted through the warranty booklet and included the highlights in this article. So keep reading for an easy-to-understand guide.

If you have additional questions about coverage, check out the FAQs at the bottom. We’ll also share where to find third-party warranties for extended coverage.

Factory Warranty

One thing to keep in mind is that the manufacturer’s warranty and the factory warranty are the same things. If you aren’t sure what Honda’s factory warranty entails for your vehicle, you can find out here.

Each policy has a limit listed in either time or mileage. For example, a policy that lasts five years or 60,000 miles will expire once the vehicle is five years old or when it has 60,000 miles on the odometer.

Here are the term limits for the 2017 Honda Fit. We’ll cover each warranty in greater detail.

The New Vehicle Limited Warranty covered the 2017 Honda Fit for three years or 36,000 miles. Coverage ensured that new owners did not have to pay for repairs and replacements caused by vehicle defects and unsuitable factory work. This coverage has expired.

Keep in mind that the New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover vehicle cleaning, most fluids, or window glass in most cases. It also does not cover normal wear and tear expected for a vehicle in the first few years of vehicle ownership.

2017 Honda Fit Powertrain Warranty

Close up of new metallic spare car parts

Honda provided a Powertrain Limited Warranty that lasted five years or 60,000 miles. The powertrain warranty covered components of the powertrain, such as the engine, including the timing gears, timing belts, flywheel, fuel pump, and valve covers. It’s expired now.

This policy also covered the following parts:

  •  Transmission
  • Transaxle
  • Front-wheel-drive system
  • Rear-wheel-drive system

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

The Honda Rust Perforation Warranty covered rusted body panels. Coverage was available for body panels for five years with no limit on mileage. The warranty covered body panels rusted through to the outside. Only the vehicle’s original owner could use this warranty coverage.

Air Conditioning Warranty

The 2017 Honda Fit does not have its own Air Conditioning Warranty, but the New Vehicle Limited Warranty covered the air conditioner for 3 years or 36,000 miles. This coverage has expired.

Paint Warranty

Honda did not offer a warranty to cover paint damage to the 2017 Honda Fit. If the owner of the vehicle noticed cosmetic damage upon receiving the vehicle from the factory, they could alert the dealership to the damage.

Battery Warranty

The Original Equipment Battery was covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty for three years or 36,000 miles. As of 2022, this coverage has expired.

Tire Warranty

Honda did not offer a Tire Warranty for the 2017 Honda Fit. The tire manufacturers provided a warranty for the original tires. Contact the Honda dealer or the tire manufacturer to learn more about your vehicle’s tire warranty.

Emissions Warranty

In accordance with the Clean Air Act’s regulations, Honda covers certain components, like the engine computer and onboard diagnostics, for eight years or 80,000 miles. The 2017 Fit is still eligible for this coverage.

The 2017 Honda Fit had more comprehensive warranty coverage for three years or 36,000 miles for the emissions systems. These warranties didn’t cover emissions control systems failures that abuse or misuse caused. Additionally, the coverage didn’t cover filters, hoses, belts, and other maintenance items.

FAQs

The 2017 Honda Fit had warranty coverage for brake issues as part of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Coverage for these brakes was good for three years or 36,000 miles, so long as the damage was not a wear-and-tear issue.

Honda’s Powertrain Warranty covered the water pump. This gave vehicle owners water pump coverage for five years or 60,000 miles. The warranty didn’t cover any problems with the water pump occurring after this time period.

The powertrain encompasses the motor and drivetrain. The drivetrain consists of the parts that get the vehicle’s wheels to move. This means that the Powertrain Warranty covered the drivetrain.

The 2017 Honda Fit still has seatbelt warranty coverage. This coverage is valid for 15 years or 150,000 miles. This applies only to seat belts that do not function properly.

Honda still provides warranty coverage for replacement exhaust components, such as the muffler. Coverage is available for as long as you own the vehicle, so long as you purchase the components from a Honda dealer.

The Replacement Battery Limited Warranty covers the battery for 100 months with varying degrees of coverage. The 2017 Honda Fit battery had complete warranty coverage for 36 months. Partial coverage is available for the following 64 months.

There’s still coverage for the catalytic converter thanks to the Clean Air Act. It is one of the emissions components covered for eight years or 80,000 miles.
