What Your 2019 Honda Passport Warranty Covers

If you own a 2019 Honda Passport, you might wonder what’s included and excluded in the Factory Warranty. Warranty coverages can help you afford the cost of repairs and maintenance. Newer Honda vehicles are typically covered under warranty, but these coverages expire over time the longer you own the vehicle.

A Manufacturer or Factory Warranty covers the repair or replacement cost of defective parts as long as you’re still within the allowed mileage or length of ownership. Here’s a brief look at the warranties that came with your 2019 Honda Passport.

2019 Honda Passport Factory Warranty Coverage
Basic Warranty:3 years or 36,000 miles
Powertrain Warranty:5 years or 60,000 miles
Corrosion Perforation Warranty:5 years with no mileage limit
Emissions Warranty:3 years or 36,000 miles
3 years or 50,000 miles (California)
Total Unique Recalls:6

In this comprehensive 2019 Honda Passport warranty guide, we’ll review what’s included with your Factory Warranty and what’s already expired. We’ll also explore any extended warranty options that might be available, so you can continue protecting your vehicle. Don’t forget to check out the FAQs at the bottom for specific questions about your 2019 Honda Passport warranty.

2019 Honda Passport Basic Warranty

The 2019 Honda Passport Basic Warranty, also called the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, covered all repairs for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever came first. Since it has probably been three years since you purchased your 2019 Passport, the warranty is most likely expired.

The Honda New Vehicle Limited Warranty doesn’t cover defective parts due to abuse or misuse, improper installation or maintenance, low fluid levels, or improper fueling. The warranty also doesn’t cover vehicles used for racing events or ones with a salvaged or total loss title. It excludes normal wear and tear, cleaning and polishing, fluid changes, broken or chipped glass, maintenance items, or cosmetic repairs.

2019 Honda Passport Powertrain Warranty

2019 Honda Passport vehicles came with a Powertrain Limited Warranty, which covers defective powertrain parts for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The 2019 Honda Passport Powertrain Warranty covers the engine, transmission and transaxle, and front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive systems. This warranty coverage began on the same date as the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

The Honda Rust Perforation Limited Warranty covers the cost of repairing or replacing body panels that rust all the way through from the inside out for five years with no mileage limit.

The Corrosion Perforation Warranty doesn’t cover surface rust, rusting on replacement panels, rust from abuse or misuse, rust from road hazards, or rust formed from immersion in water, mud, or sand. The warranty also doesn’t cover paint-matching services.

Air Conditioning Warranty

Honda doesn’t have a separate Air Conditioning Warranty for the 2019 Passport. The New Vehicle Limited Warranty covers the air conditioning system for three years or 36,000 miles, and has likely expired. It only covered the cost of adding air conditioning refrigerant for two years or 24,000 miles, which has expired.

Paint Warranty

Honda didn’t offer a specific paint warranty for the 2019 Honda Passport. The Basic Warranty only covered paint repairs from manufacturing defects in material or workmanship, which would have had to be caught at the time of the original purchase. Most paint repairs won’t be covered under Honda’s warranties unless they’re related to rusted or corroded panels.

Battery Warranty

There was no separate battery warranty, but the original battery in the 2019 Honda Passport was covered for three years or 36,000 miles under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. This warranty is now likely expired.

Tire Warranty

All original 2019 Honda Passport tires are covered under a separate Tire Manufacturer Warranty. You can contact your nearest Honda dealership to find out which company holds your Tire Warranty.

Wheel balancing and wheel alignment services were covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty for 12,000 miles or the first year of ownership. This service has now expired for the 2019 Honda Passport. Most 2019 Honda Passport owners have a Tire Warranty under Yokohama Tires, Michelin Tires, Goodyear/Dunlop Tires, Continental Tires, or Bridgestone/Firestone Tires.

Emissions Warranty

Pipe exhaust car smoke emission

The 2019 Honda Passport emissions systems were covered under the Federal Emissions Warranty for three years or 36,000 miles, which has now likely expired. Some 2019 Honda Passport drivers may have instead been covered under the California Emissions Warranty, which may still be in effect. This includes drivers in California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington. This warranty covered emissions-related defects for three years or 50,000 miles, with some components covered for seven years or 70,000 miles.

This warranty covered emissions-related parts such as the crankcase control, exhaust system, and fuel injection system. Emissions Warranties exclude emissions failures due to abuse or misuse, maintenance items, and cosmetic defects. Additionally, the Clean Air Act requires manufacturers to cover the catalytic converter, engine computer, and onboard diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles.
