In our FAQ section, you’ll also learn the answers to common questions Honda owners ask us. Now, let’s review what your 2021 Honda CR-V warranty covers — and what it doesn’t.
Factory Warranty
Honda wants to ensure you’re satisfied with your 2021 CR-V. That’s why the company offers an attractive Factory Warranty on all of its automobiles that starts the day you take delivery of your vehicle. You’ll appreciate protection on most systems, including:
2021 Honda CR-V Basic Warranty
Under Honda’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty, the manufacturer will repair or replace most defective vehicle components on your 2021 CR-V, for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
This limited warranty also covers the following parts and services:
- Wheel balancing (1 year or 12,000 miles)
- Wheel alignment (1 year or 12,000 miles)
- Wiper blade inserts (6 months).
- Remote and key fob batteries (6 months)
The New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover everything on your 2021 Honda CR-V. Some components don’t qualify for coverage or come with a separate policy, including:
- Normal wear or deterioration of any part
- Cleaning and polishing
- Fluids (unless part of a warranty repair)
- Broken window glass (unless defective)
- Cosmetic flaws or minor damage to the body and paint
- Maintenance items such as air filters and brake pads
2021 Honda CR-V Powertrain Warranty
Your 2021 CR-V’s powertrain is warrantied for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. Honda will repair or replace covered parts deemed defective during normal use. In addition, some powertrain parts come with supplemental coverage.
This warranty covers the following components:
- Engine
- Transmission and transaxle
- Front-wheel-drive system
- Rear-wheel-drive system (if applicable)
2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid Powertrain Warranty
The Honda CR-V Hybrid adds extra powertrain protection for the hybrid components including the high-voltage battery. This Hybrid Powertrain Warranty is good for eight years or 100,000 miles.
Corrosion Perforation Warranty
Honda’s Rust Perforation Limited Warranty protects your 2021 Honda CR-V for five years with no mileage limits. However, only the vehicle’s original owner can file a claim under this warranty because it is nontransferable.
Rust can cause severe damage to your vehicle. Thankfully, Honda’s corrosion warranty starts the same day as your New Vehicle Limited Warranty and covers body panels perforated by rust from the inside out. The manufacturer also repairs previously serviced panels for any remaining term of the original five-year time frame. This warranty has many exclusions, including:
- Surface rust on the underbody
- Rusting of repaired body panels (unless repaired or replaced under warranty)
- Rust caused by abuse, misuse, or lack of maintenance
- Rust caused by road hazards
- Rust caused by water, mud, sand, or corrosive materials
- Paint matching
Air Conditioning Warranty
Your 2021 Honda CR-V’s air conditioning system is covered under the Federal Emissions Warranty for three years or 36,000 miles (three years or 50,000 miles in California). Refrigerant is limited to 2 years or 24,000 miles unless it’s required as part of another warrantied repair.
Paint Warranty
Honda doesn’t offer a paint warranty on the 2021 CR-V.
Battery Warranty
With your Replacement 12-Volt Battery Limited Warranty Replacement from Honda, you get a total of 100 months of warranty coverage. During the first three years or 36,000 miles, Honda will replace a defective 12-volt battery at no cost to you, including parts, labor, and installation, regardless of mileage.
The covered amount declines during the remaining 64 months of the warranty. You’ll still receive a prorated credit toward the purchase price of a replacement battery from an authorized Honda dealer. However, you may be responsible for labor costs. This shrinking credit amount under this battery warranty is:
- Months 37 to 45: 60%
- Months 46 to 55: 50%
- Months 56 to 65: 40%
- Months 66 to 75: 30%
- Months 76 to 85: 20%
- Months 86 to 95: 10%
- Months 96 to 100: 5%
This battery warranty does not include coverage for the CR-V Hybrid’s high-voltage traction battery, which is covered under the 8-year/100,000-mile Hybrid Powertrain Warranty.
Tire Warranty
The original tires that came on your 2021 Honda are warrantied by their manufacturer. However, if you took steps to make your tires last longer and you believe they’re still covered, contact your local dealership for assistance filing a claim.
In 2021, Honda used the following tire manufacturers to equip its CR-V crossover SUV:
- Hankook Tires
- JK Tyre
- Kenda Tires
- Maxxis
- Michelin Tires
- Goodyear/Dunlop Tires
- Continental Tires
- Bridgestone/Firestone Tires
Emissions Warranty
Honda’s Federal Emissions Warranty protects the emissions components of your 2021 CR-V for a minimum of three years or 36,000 miles. It covers the major mechanics that make up your vehicle’s smug control systems, and additional warranties might be available.
However, the Clean Air Act regulations cover the engine computer, catalytic converter, and onboard diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles. Additionally, if you live in a state with stringent emission regulations, such as California, and your vehicle fails a smog check, you might be protected for as long as seven years or 70,000 miles, whichever comes first. California Emissions Warranties cover Honda vehicles registered and operated in these additional states:
- Connecticut
- Delaware
- Maine
- Maryland
- Massachusetts
- New Jersey
- New York
- Oregon
- Pennsylvania
- Rhode Island
- Vermont
- Washington
Honda’s Federal Emissions System Warranty covers the following components:
- Exhaust System
- Ignition System
- Fuel Injection System
- Crankcase Control System
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation System
- Evaporative and Refueling Emissions Control System
- Intake Air System
- On-Boarding Diagnostics System
- Transmission Control System
- Valve Control System
- Active Grille Shutter
- Active Seat Ventilation
- High-Efficiency LED Light
To qualify for coverage under the emissions warranties, you must have your vehicle serviced according to the specifications in the warranty manual. However, if your vehicle fails an EPA-approved test, take your 2021 CR-V and a copy of the report to an authorized Honda dealer for service. This warranty covers repairs, parts, labor, and diagnosis at no charge.
