Learn All About Your 2021 Honda Ridgeline Warranty Coverage

Having a Factory Warranty (also known as a Manufacturer’s Warranty) for your car can help mitigate the cost of expensive repairs. If you own a 2021 Honda Ridgeline, you’ll be happy to know that Honda provides an extensive warranty for your vehicle. However, the details of this coverage can be a little confusing, so we’ve created this easy-to-use guide to help you understand all the details associated with your Honda Ridgeline warranty and its coverage.

2021 Honda Ridgeline Factory Warranty Coverage:
Basic Warranty:3 years or 36,000 miles
Powertrain Warranty:5 years or 60,000 miles
Corrosion Perforation Warranty:5 years with no mileage limit
Emissions Warranty:3 years or 36,000 miles
3 years or 50,000 miles (California)
Total Unique Recalls:1

Keep in mind that most warranties are described in terms of both time and mileage, such as “two years or 24,000 miles.” In this example, it means that you get two full years of coverage unless you exceed 24,000 miles, in which case the coverage ends early.

At the end of the article, you can reference the FAQ section to find answers to common questions people have about this vehicle’s warranty coverage.

Factory Warranty

2021 Honda Ridgeline Basic Warranty

The 2021 Honda Ridgeline comes with a New Vehicle Limited Warranty that pays to repair or replace parts that fail due to poor workmanship. This warranty is good for three years or 36,000 miles. Unless you are over the 36,000-mile limit, this warranty is still valid.

There are a few limitations with what this warranty will pay for, and it excludes:

If any of these items require repair or replacement because of other warranty work, they will have coverage under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. However, the warranty won’t pay for any normal wear and tear.

2021 Honda Ridgeline Powertrain Warranty

A Powertrain Limited Warranty started on the same day as your New Vehicle Limited Warranty and is good for five years or 60,000 miles. Some powertrain parts have coverage under additional warranties. You probably still have coverage for the powertrain in your Ridgeline. This warranty covers the engine, transmission, transaxle, and drive system. It will pay to repair or replace all the major components of these systems if they fail due to low-quality materials or poor workmanship.

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

Only the original owner of the 2021 Honda Ridgeline can make a claim using the Rust Perforation Limited Warranty. This coverage is good for five years and has no mileage cap. It will pay to repair or replace any panels that rust through completely. This coverage is still active. Some exceptions to what this warranty covers include:

  • Rust on underbody panels
  • Rust from immersion in water, mud, or sand
  • Rust from corrosive gas or industrial fallout
  • Rust from road hazards and debris

Air Conditioning Warranty

Your air conditioning system is covered under the Basic Warranty, which is good for three years or 36,000 miles. This warranty will replace parts of the system that fail due to poor workmanship. Coolant recharging is under warranty for only two years or 24,000 miles.

Paint Warranty

Honda doesn’t provide a warranty for anything related to the cosmetic appearance of your vehicle. If you noticed any flaws in the paint job or body of your 2021 Honda Ridgeline, you needed to bring them to the attention of the dealer immediately.

Battery Warranty

The original battery in your 2021 Honda Ridgeline has coverage under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. It pays for the replacement of your original 12-volt battery for three years or 36,000 miles. This coverage includes labor and installation fees.

Tire Warranty

Honda provides no tire warranty for the 2021 Honda Ridgeline, but they are warrantied by the tire manufacturer. Honda provides a tire warranty statement on its website, and you can contact your dealer for help if you have questions regarding the warranty for your tires.

Emissions Warranty

The emissions system in your Honda Ridgeline is covered under the Federal Emissions Warranty for three years or 36,000 miles. In California and select states, the coverage lasts for 50,000 miles under the California Emissions Warranty, with some parts covered for seven years or 70,000 miles. These states include Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.

FAQs

These are some of the most frequently asked questions about the 2021 Honda Ridgeline warranty and their answers to provide you with further guidance on this warranty’s coverage:

The Replacement 12-Volt Battery Limited Warranty will cover a replacement battery, purchased and installed at a Honda dealer, fully for three years. This includes labor and installation fees. After the three years are up, it covers battery replacement, but not labor or installation. However, the warranty doesn’t cover the full replacement cost and will only pay a percentage of the cost according to this chart:

  • Months 37 to 45: 60%
  • Months 46 to 55: 50%
  • Months 56 to 65: 40%
  • Months 66 to 75: 30%
  • Months 76 to 85: 20%
  • Months 86 to 95: 10%

Months 96 to 100: 5%

Any accessories that were installed on your 2021 Honda Ridgeline before the retail sale are under warranty for three years or 36,000 miles. This coverage started on the same day as your New Vehicle Limited Warranty. If a Honda dealer installs the accessories after the retail sale, they’re under warranty for the remainder of the time on your New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Accessories purchased from a Honda dealer but installed by someone else are also under warranty for one year.

During the period that your New Vehicle Limited Warranty is in effect, the coverage will transfer to a new owner. The new owner will take over the warranty and its same coverage for the time it has left. The warranty will not reset for the new owner. Keep in mind that portions of the warranty may not transfer, such as the Rust Perforation Limited Warranty.

The 2021 Honda Ridgeline has a Seat Belt Limited Warranty that begins on the same day as the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. This coverage will pay to repair or replace the seat belts if they’re defective due to poor workmanship or a problem with materials. It provides coverage for 15 years or 150,000 miles. If you find the seat belts unattractive or uncomfortable, Honda won’t pay to replace them under this warranty.

During the time you own your Honda Ridgeline, you may need to have parts replaced. These replacement parts come with a warranty that’s good for one year from the date of purchase when you buy them from a Honda dealer. If you get remanufactured parts for your 2021 Honda Ridgeline, they’re under warranty for three years or 36,000 miles if you purchase them from a Honda dealer and have them installed by one. If you choose to have them installed elsewhere, they only get the three-year portion of the warranty and not the 36,000-mile option.

With these details, you should have a better understanding of the coverage your 2021 Honda Ridgeline warranty provides. You can always contact your Honda dealership or consult your warranty booklet if you have more questions or need further guidance as to what it covers.
