2022 Honda HR-V Basic Warranty

All Honda vehicles come with a basic three-year or 36,000-mile warranty, whichever comes first. This protection is bumper to bumper and covers eligible damage to or failure of any major parts and labor

This protection only covers parts that break down under proper operation and fail during the coverage period. Your dealer can provide the specifics of coverage.

2022 Honda HR-V Powertrain Warranty

Your 2022 Powertrain Warranty protects everything that powers the wheels, whether your vehicle is front-wheel or all-wheel drive. It covers everything from your engine to axles and transaxle, drivetrain, and other parts and systems that make your car go.

The protection lasts for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. As with your Basic Warranty, the protection extends to repair or replacement if the part fails because of a factory defect or breaks down during proper operation.

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

Honda’s Corrosion Perforation Warranty coverage lasts five years. There is no mileage limit for coverage, but only the original purchaser can take advantage of the protection. This warranty covers the cost of replacing any body panels on your HR-V that rust from the inside out.

The protection even covers panels that have already been replaced under the warranty.

Air Conditioning Warranty

Over the past few years, Honda began covering air conditioning systems in its vehicles. 2022 Honda HR-V SUVs have coverage under the Federal Emissions Warranty for three years or 36,000 miles. The refrigerant system is covered for two years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The components and mechanical parts of your AC system are part of the emissions system and covered under that warranty.

Paint Warranty

The 2022 Honda HR-V does not have specific paint issues, so Honda does not offer an Extended Paint Warranty. If body panels protected by the Corrosion Perforation Warranty rust through, they can be replaced. The vehicle owner must cover any other paint issues out of pocket.

Battery Warranty

The Mechanic hand is pulling up an car old battery for replacement

The original battery on a 2022 HR-V is protected for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Battery coverage extends to parts and labor for any battery that fails during the coverage period.

After this coverage, any battery you source through a Honda dealership is covered for up to 100 months, with the percentage of coverage prorated based on the age of the battery.

Tire Warranty

Honda does not warranty tires. Most tires, however, are covered by a Manufacturer’s Warranty provided by the tire maker. If you need more information about tire coverage, contact your tire manufacturer.

Your Honda dealership can put you in touch with the manufacturer if you’re not sure who to call.

Emissions Warranty

Your Honda emissions system is covered for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Federal standards require this warranty coverage for emissions. If you live in California, the coverage period extends for up to 50,000 miles or three years, whichever happens first.

The Clean Air Act also requires specific components, including the catalytic converter, onboard diagnostics, and engine computer, to be covered for eight years or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first. Protection, however, requires the emissions failure to occur because of a defect under proper operating conditions.

Warranty Extensions Available Upon Car Purchase

When you purchase the car, your dealership will offer you an extended warranty that can extend the coverage to eight years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first.

This warranty, however, will add several thousand dollars to the vehicle purchase price, so you will need to weigh the costs and benefits to determine if it suits your budget. Ask your dealership about the specifics of coverage.

2022 Honda HR-V Extended Warranties Available Now

Following the expiration of your Factory Warranty, additional extended warranties are usually available from third-party companies. Such extended coverage can add a few more years or up to 100,000 miles of coverage and typically cost a couple of thousand dollars. These warranties carry special requirements for coverage, so double-check the details before buying.

FAQs

Standard and extended warranties generally do not cover “wear and tear” items such as brakes and windshield wipers. The warranty also does not cover aesthetic issues involving paint and decorative trim. Your warranty booklet and dealership can provide details about specific exclusions.

Honda protects the seat belts in the 2022 Honda HR-V for the vehicle’s life span. If your seat belt fails during normal use, it will be repaired or replaced at no cost to you.

Accessories sourced from and installed by an authorized dealer receive coverage for one year or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. If your new car’s Basic Warranty coverage is longer, accessories are covered for the remainder of the warranty. If a Honda dealership does not install the accessories, you get one year of coverage, regardless of the time left on your Factory Warranty.

If your Factory Warranty has expired and you’re looking to reduce out-of-pocket expenses, be sure to check out the FIXD+CARCHEX Vehicle Protection Plan.
