Finding a trusted professional is always important whether you are looking for a plumber, or an electrician. Finding a mechanic is no different. Here are the most important things to look for in a mechanic!

.Check the certification of the mechanic. Make sure the mechanic is ASE certified, or even an ASE Master Technician! In order to receive these certifications, they have to pass a nationally recognized examination and prove that they have hands on experience working in the industry.

.Make sure they have experience working on your make of your vehicle. Each make is unique, which means they all have unique problems. Going to a mechanic that is knowledgeable on your vehicle will ensure the proper handling of your vehicle’s issues.

.Look up the repair shop online. Chances are, if the repair shop can’t be trusted, someone else has already figured it out. Look online for reviews to get an idea of what other customers have thought. You can also check the shops rating on sites like the better business bureau, or yelp.

.Find a mechanic who will explain the issue. A good mechanic will care for their customers and their cars. This means educating their customers about the issue and the necessary fixes. The interaction should be a discussion to come to the best solution. If very little explanation is given, this could be a red flag!

.Look for a second opinion. Don’t hesitate to check with someone else to make sure you are getting a reasonable price, or even getting the right repair. A good mechanic will be patient and understand the need to get a second opinion. Watch out for the mechanics that getting pushy when you suggest this.
