Subaru Gold Plus Warranty

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Subaru offers motorists a Gold Plus Warranty for additional peace of mind with their new car purchase. When you’re already spending money on a new vehicle, you may wonder whether this extra investment is worthwhile. We take a closer look at the Subaru Gold Plus Warranty so you can decide for yourself.

What Is the Subaru Gold Plus Warranty?

The Subaru Gold Plus Warranty is Subaru’s high-end added security extended service agreement. These agreements cover the cost of wear and tear of selected components and related components that fail as a consequence of the wear and tear during the warranty period, which begins when the limited factory warranty ends. If a covered component breaks during this period, Subaru-trained technicians will fix it at no cost to you, using new or Subaru re-manufactured parts.

What Parts Does the Subaru Gold Plus Warranty Cover?

The Subaru Gold Plus Warranty covers virtually every part of the car, including complex car systems that the basic classic plan doesn’t such as:

  • EyeSight driver assistance technology
  • Blind-spot detection
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Reverse automatic braking
  • DriverFocus distraction mitigation system
  • STARLINK multimedia
  • STARLINK safety and security

It also covers the powertrain and other major car systems that the classic plan does. Parts covered include:

  • Engine
  • All-wheel drive
  • Transmission
  • Cooling and fuel
  • Steering
  • Suspension
  • Brakes
  • Air conditioning
  • Electrical systems
  • Struts
  • Constant-velocity joints

What Parts Aren’t Covered by the Gold Plus Warranty?

Subaru’s Gold Plus Warranty doesn’t cover the following components:

  • Tires and wheels
  • Windshield
  • Exterior panels that get dents or dings

You can purchase protection for these parts separately through the Subaru Equity Shield optimum vehicle protection program.

The plan also doesn’t cover maintenance items, such as:

  • Brake pads
  • Windshield wiper blades
  • Hoses
  • Belts

Are There Additional Benefits?

Like the classic plan, the Gold Plus Warranty also covers towing and car rental allowances. This means you can get your Subaru towed if it fails outside your home and receive a rental car to get around while technicians work on your vehicle.

The Gold Plus Warranty also has an exclusive trip interruption allowance. This allowance provides $500 to put towards accommodation and meals if your Subaru breaks down more than 50 miles from your home during the warranty period. Roadside assistance from Cross Country Motor Club is also part of the Gold Plus Warranty. If you need help with your car at any time, call the toll-free 24-hour number and Cross Country Motor Club will dispatch a representative to give you a jump start, change your tire or battery, deliver gas, retrieve keys locked in your vehicle, and more.

You can also purchase additional maintenance plans which add value to your Gold Plus Warranty. These plans let you lock in the cost of your maintenance. They also include a $500 voucher you can put towards the cost of your next Subaru.

What Vehicles Does a Subaru Gold Plus Warranty Cover?

Subaru covers all Subaru vehicles bought for personal use that Subaru of America still supports with basic warranties. You can’t take out a gold plus warranty on a commercial vehicle or one that has a snowplow.

When Can I Get a Subaru Gold Plus Warranty?

You can get a Subaru Gold Plus Warranty any time before your limited factory warranty expires. That can be three years or once you’ve driven 36,000 miles, whichever happens first. Many people buy their Gold Plus Warranties when they’re purchasing their new Subaru vehicle so they can roll the cost into their finance agreement. When you purchase early, there’s no need to track your mileage or how long you’ve had your Subaru. You also lock in the price of your warranty, ensuring that your payment will remain the same, even if Subaru raises its prices.

How Long Does the Subaru Gold Plus Warranty Last?

Subaru has eight different plans to suit your driving needs. Offering a variety of plans ensures there’s a Gold Plus plan to fit your budget. In many cases, you can obtain the Gold Plus Warranty for up to eight years/120,000 miles or 10 years/100,000 miles.

Is There a Deductible?

Subaru offers its Gold Plus plans with zero deductible, $50 deductible, or $100 deductible options. The higher the deductible, the lower the plan cost. The zero deductible option is more expensive, but you can enjoy peace of mind knowing you’ll never pay anything for repairs covered by the warranty. The $50 and $100 deductible plans are great options that let you save money on your plan while still enjoying some massive savings. Note that unlike many plans, Subaru only charges you the deductible once for each repair visit, not for every component you need.

How Much Do Subaru Gold Plus Warranty Plans Cost?

The price of Subaru Gold Plus Warranty plans vary depending on the length of coverage, your chosen deductible, and other factors. Your local Subaru dealer can run through the costs with you and show you how altering elements of your plan can change the price. They can also help you decide how to structure the gold plus warranty plan to best meet your needs and budget.

What Happens If I Sell My Subaru?

Subaru’s added security extended service agreements are transferrable. That means if you sell your Subaru before the Gold Plus Warranty expires, you can transfer the benefits to the new owner within 30 days. These comprehensive warranties can be a great selling point when you’re ready for a new vehicle.

If you’d prefer to cancel the plan, you have that option too. Subaru will reimburse you a prorated amount, based on how long you’ve held the warranty.
