FIXD setup and instructions

The OBD-II port is usually located on the driver’s side of the vehicle, underneath the dashboard. It can be found near the pedals of your vehicle. Click here to find your port! 

The sensor code is located on the back of the sensor! It will look like this: CV######

The blue light flashes to indicate power, and to indicate that it is connecting to the app!

If your vehicle was sold in the U.S. and is 1996 and newer, you will have the same standard port. Make sure the cover is removed from the port in order to plug it in!

The FIXD sensor is a Bluetooth enabled device that connects to the OBD-II port in your vehicle. The sensor is able to scan the vehicle, detect check engine lights, and read associated codes. It will then send the information to the custom FIXD app, where the codes are explained in simple and understandable terms.

Currently, FIXD is able to read active check engine light. The other lights such as TPMS, ABS, Airbag, Maintenance lights, and Stability Control, are controlled by manufacturer-specific parameter identifiers, which make it difficult to communicate through the OBD-II port. We are currently working on licensing that information from the manufacturers.

Yes, you can leave your sensor plugged in! If you plan on not operating your vehicle for more than a few days, we recommend removing your sensor.

Gas: FIXD is compatible with gas powered vehicles 1996 and newer that were sold in the U.S. and 2006 and newer that were sold outside the U.S.

Diesel: The FIXD sensor is compatible with diesel vehicles newer than 2006 and trucks that are 2008 and newer.

Yes, a smartphone is required for the use of the FIXD app. Currently, FIXD works with iPhones (iOS 10.3 or higher) and Android (4.1 or higher) smartphones.

Yes, the FIXD app is now compatible with iPads if you have cellular data on your iPad with the ability to connect to the internet.

Unfortunately at this time, the FIXD app is not compatible with a computer. You will need a smartphone or an iPad with cellular data.

The vehicle does not need Bluetooth, but Bluetooth is required on your smartphone! All smart phones come pre-equipped with Bluetooth capabilities.

OBD-II stands for On Board Diagnostics. This port is a standard in all U.S. vehicles since the year 1996. The port is utilized by mechanics to connect and diagnose issues with your vehicle!

iPhone: In order to download the app, please go to the app store and search FIXD. Then press “get”.

Android: In order to download the app, please go to the Google Play Store and search FIXD. Then press download!

Make sure the app you have downloaded is green and white with two wrenches crossing. There is another app called FIXD that is blue, this is not associated with our company.

You will need to have at least 3 bars of data in order for the app to connect to our servers. A lot of the information that is used in the app is accessed from our servers to reduce the amount of storage the app takes up on your phone.

Yes, you can create an account without a sensor!

You will need to make an account in order for you to save your information. This way you only need to setup your sensor once!

No, you cannot use a laptop because the FIXD app is not compatible with laptops.

This is where you can see the meaning of the other lights on your dashboard. Currently, FIXD cannot read these lights!

These are the manufacturer suggested maintenance intervals and the associated tasks!

This will happen when there is not a strong enough data connection or we do not have this specific vehicle’s timeline in our database! Contact our support team (support@fixdapp.com) and we will ensure your timeline is added!

At this time no timeline can be customized by an app user, but you can make unique events to the vehicle’s logbook!

All you need to do is press the refresh button in the timeline.

A log is the result of a successful scan. During a scan, the FIXD sensor reads the check engine information and then the app translates the raw data into the appropriate code. This is stored as a log in your logbook!

The logbook holds the previous scan information and where custom logs can be made.

A custom log can be created for previous service performed on your vehicle, cost, location of service, timing information and other additional comments regarding your service. You can also put in supplemental log information about your vehicle including vehicle washes, parking fines, etc.

If the scan results are the same (ex: all clear from check engine lights for multiple scans) then the logbook will actually combine the logs in an effort to take up less space in the logbook.

The only reason the logbook will not save your historic logs would be due to the fact that you do not have a strong enough data connection. Disconnect from wifi – and try again using cellular data only.

Wear items feature helps you keep track of the life of your tires, windshield wipers and your vehicle’s battery!

This will happen if you do not have a strong enough data connection.Try disconnecting from wifi and use cellular data only to save the information!

The question mark indicates that there is some information missing for the tires, battery, or wipers on the vehicle. It will also be present if there are low levels detected on any of the three.

If you own a newer vehicle, the battery is connected directly to OBD-II port thus FIXD will be able to read the battery. In order to have the sensor read the battery only and not your alternator as well, you will need to leave the vehicle off when completing the battery test.

The Penny test helps you keep track of the wear and tear on the vehicle’s tires.You will need to take a physical penny and with the Lincoln’s head down, stick it into the tire’s tread. Mark how much of his head is covered by the tire tread. Then utilize the drag mechanism in the FIXD app to mirror how much can be seen of the penny.

Find the parts you are looking for to repair or perform maintenance on your vehicle!

Go to the right side menu (three dots or lines) and tap “buy parts”. You will select the items you need and continue to Amazon.com to complete the purchase. Make sure you add the items to your cart!

The parts are purchased through Amazon, and the check out process will be completed on Amazon’s website.

Here you can find highly rated repair shops nearby!

It uses Yelp to get the rating and recommend top rated repair shops in your area.

If you do not see a particular repair shop, then they may not be on Yelp or have a lower score on Yelp.

Though we always recommend taking your vehicle to a mechanic if you are not experienced with DIY vehicle repairs, FIXD is not associated with any repair shops.

Yes you can add multiple vehicles!

In order to add another vehicle, you will need to launch the app, and go to the left side menu. You should see a “+” sign at the bottom. Please press that and select if you want to use a registered sensor, or to add another sensor.

Yes, the sensor will work on multiple vehicles! However, we do recommend having one FIXD sensor per vehicle. With one sensor per vehicle, you can keep track of your mileage and provide updates when your vehicle is coming up on its next maintenance interval. With the multi-vehicle control feature, we can also alert you when other vehicles in your family are experiencing problems.

If you code is red, then it is serious and it can affect drivability. If the code is yellow, than it is not as serious and shouldn’t affect drivability. You should fix both as soon as possible.

If you are not a professional or experienced at vehicle repair, we recommend that you see a mechanic whenever an issue comes up! Waiting to resolve the issue can cause more issues to develop.

Click “Clear Engine Light” on the details page to clear the code. If the code is cleared but the issue with the vehicle is not resolved, the check engine light may reappear after a certain number of miles have been driven.

If the code is emissions related, FIXD cannot clear it due to Federal Regulations. You must get the issue fixed and then the code will be cleared after 30 miles of driving. If it is not emissions related, please reach out to us.

To reset your password, please go into the app and press “login”. Then, press “forgot password” and enter in the email address that you used to set up your account. Then, press “reset password”. Please go to your email account and follow the link to reset your password.

You will need your location services turned on so the app knows when your vehicle is moving. It will trigger a scan to check your vehicle, and it helps with the mileage update. We do not save your location, or use it for any other reason.

To logout, go to the side menu and click “Logout”. You can log out of your account after each session as a security measure. This can be helpful to make sure that the app is closed down completely. It can also help with the restarting process if you face technical difficulties. Restart the sensor and the FIXD app by logging out of your account, closing out of the FIXD app, and disconnecting the sensor.

  2. Go to the right side menu (represented by three lines on apple devices and three dots for Android devices).
  3. Go to “my account” – here you can change your account email address, phone number,and password by pressing “edit” or “change”.
  4. You can also change from Miles to KM by turning on the switch.

Close out of the app, and unplug the sensor, that should help refresh it. Then, start your vehicle and leave it running. Plug your sensor in and try to connect!  Make sure you are disconnected from wifi, and make sure you have at least 3 bars of data connection.

When you are trying to connect, remember that you do not need to go through the Bluetooth settings to pair with the sensor. In order to connect to your FIXD sensor, all you need to do is turn Bluetooth on and launch the app! The app and sensor will pair automatically!

You can purchase a sensor with the following retailers: FIXD, Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy.

You can buy one FIXD sensor for $59, two FIXD sensors for $88, or three FIXD sensors for $118.

No, there are no additional or monthly fees associated with using the FIXD sensor.

If you add a sensor to your cart, and then leave the checkout page, you will get an email prompting you to complete the purchase. There are only two emails sent with this wording and you can also unsubscribe at the bottom of the email.

Once the purchase has been completed, your order will be shipped out the next business day. Shipping usually takes 3-5 days for delivery on domestic orders.

Reach out to us and we would be happy to fix this! There is a 2 month window to contact our team to reship your order if there were issues with shipping. After 2 months, the holding period for your order has expired and your order will be archived.

The FIXD sensor can be returned within 30 days from the date the order was delivered. If you need to double check when your order was delivered, you should have received an email with tracking information from FIXD that you can review for the correct delivery date.

A return authorization must be requested prior to the 30 day time period of the order being delivered. To request a label, the order number and delivery address zip code will be required. (The order number should be in either a GO or FIXD format – “GO-12345678” “FIXD123456”.) If there are issues requesting a return label, email the FIXD team for a return label – support@fixdapp.com.

The sensor can also be sent back to our office directly at 75 5th Street NW Suite 2120 with the order # clearly marked in the shipping address or on the package.

If you are outside of the 30 day return period, you cannot return the sensor for a full refund. You may however be within our one year warranty policy for a replacement sensor if you think there may be an issue with your sensor. Contact our support team to do some troubleshooting first to ensure we are not able to assist!
