Goodyear Wrangler SR-A Review

Goodyear Wrangler SR-A Review
TABLE OF CONTENTS

The Goodyear Wrangler SR-A is a highway or touring all-season tire that’s popular among vehicle owners and manufacturers. It has been on the market for more than a decade. Many mid-size and full-size trucks come with Goodyear Wrangler SR-A tires, and people often use them to replace tires for SUVs and crossovers. Continue reading for a Goodyear Wrangler SR-A review that includes this tire’s style, tread design, available sizes, benefits, and warranty.

Style

The Goodyear Wrangler SR-A looks a lot like an off-road tire, especially from the side, but it’s designed for drivers who stay on the roads. More people are buying SUVs and trucks than they did in the past, and many drivers don’t plan to use the off-road capabilities of their vehicles. The SR-A can be a good choice for many of these individuals.

This tire’s sidewall has bold, black Goodyear Wrangler lettering surrounded by white outlines. After that, you can see the SR-A model name in more subtle gray letters.

Tread Design and Performance

Four wide circumferential grooves go around the tire, and they work with zigzag lateral grooves around the tread blocks to help dispel water from under the tire, reducing the risk of hydroplaning or slipping when driving in heavy rain, snow, and ice. Goodyear’s TreadLock microgrooves or sipes provide biting edges on the surfaces of the treads to enhance traction in wet environments and make the tire’s grip better when cornering or turning. The advanced all-season tread compound uses Goodyear’s WetTrac technology, and the symmetrical tread pattern also helps add traction.

A large contact patch helps increase this tire’s dry traction performance. The contact patch is the part of the tread that makes contact with the road. Inside the Goodyear Wrangler SR-A, two high-tension steel belts help increase the strength and durability of the tire.

Available Sizes

The Goodyear Wrangler SR-A comes in 15- to 20-inch sizes, and you can choose P-metric or LT-metric tire types. P-metric tires are for passenger vehicles, including SUVs and trucks that don’t tow or haul heavy loads or travel on gravel roads. They’re designed for a smooth ride and good handling, and they have a P or no letter before the tire size.

LT stands for light truck, and LT-metric tires have LT lettering before their sizes. LT-metric tires are better than P-metric tires for towing and off-road performance because they have additional material in the sidewalls and beneath the tread. This makes them more damage-resistant, but they have less fuel efficiency.

The Benefits of the Goodyear Wrangler SR-A

The SR-A’s advanced tread design provides a smooth, comfortable ride, and it minimizes road noise, even at high speeds with a trailer. This makes it ideal for long trips.

The Wrangler SR-A’s strong internal structure gives it additional stability when you’re driving fast. It helps keep the tire from becoming deformed due to high tread temperatures. This tire can help your vehicle withstand vibrations, and it has a great grip on wet and dry roads. It has impressive traction on dirt and mud, as well. The Wrangler SR-A can make your steering more responsive, and the LT tire can maneuver well even on gravel.

Drawbacks

The Goodyear Wrangler SR-A is an excellent tire, but it might not be suitable for everyone. If you do a lot of driving in rain and snow or off-road, you might prefer tires designed for that use. You can also find tires with longer tread life and more extensive warranties. However, the SR-A is relatively affordable, and it provides a comfortable, quiet ride on the highway.

Warranty

Wrangler SR-A tires come with Goodyear’s Highway Auto and Light Truck Tire Replacement Limited Warranty. However, it only applies to tires original to the vehicle.

This limited warranty can help you replace a tire at no charge or for a prorated amount that includes tire mounting and balancing. If a covered warranty condition happens and removes your tire from service during the first year or while at least 2/32 of an inch of usable tread is visible, replacement is usually free. If you don’t have proof of purchase, Goodyear will use the tire’s manufacture date to determine eligibility.

If a tire is between one and six years old, you’ll get a prorated amount of money to replace it, and you’ll need to pay for mounting and balancing. How much you receive depends on the percent of usable tread remaining and the tire’s retail price when you purchased it. If a tire has less than 2/32 of an inch, it’s not eligible for a warranty payment.

This tire also comes with the Goodyear Limited Tread Life Warranty to protect owners from premature tread wear. It excludes LT sizes and lasts for 50,000 miles. If your tire wears evenly to the tread wear indicators or 2/32 of an inch before reaching 50,000 miles, you can get it replaced on a prorated basis. However, you’ll need the original invoice to show your vehicle’s mileage when you purchased a Goodyear Wrangler SR-A. Exclusions and limitations apply, and you can review both warranties for details.

The Goodyear Wrangler SR-A is a great tire for enjoying the open road or a daily commute. It has a rugged look, and it provides excellent performance in a variety of conditions.

The FIXD Sensor and app can read all standardized OBD2 codes on most gas-powered vehicles built since 1996. However, Enhanced Codes such as ABS, airbag, transmission, traction control, and TPMS are not supported.
