This “Dorm-Room Startup” Is Changing the Way People Service Their Cars

The FIXD Sensor and app can translate thousands of check engine codes into plain English, right on your smartphone. Keep reading to find out the story behind the 3 Georgia Tech grads who invented it and how this device has already helped over 3 million drivers save time and money on their vehicles.

Does Your Check Engine Light Always Come On at the WORST Time?

There are thousands of issues that can cause a check engine light, from a loose gas cap to a misfire. Figuring out the exact cause usually requires a costly trip to the repair shop – until now…

Tired of seeing friends and family stress over car repairs, three engineering students at Georgia Tech designed a new way to diagnose the check engine light and stay on top of car care.

“We Wanted to Take the Stress Out of Car Repairs”

CEO and Co-Founder John Gattuso developed a reputation as “the car guy” early on. Growing up with a single mom, he was responsible for taking care of the family vehicle. So when John left for Georgia Tech, he kept getting calls from friends and family concerned about their vehicles.

“I’d get calls all the time from friends saying, ‘I’m at the shop. They’re telling me it’s gonna cost $800 to fix this. Is that right?’” John said.

“I realized there was a big problem in the automotive world. People couldn’t trust the professionals they relied on for help, and they didn’t have an easy way to understand what was going on with their cars.”

So, John, along with fellow Georgia Tech grads Julian Knight and Frederick Grimm, decided to take things into their own hands.

“I realized that there was a big problem in the automotive world. People couldn’t trust the professionals they relied on for help, and they didn’t have an easy way to understand what was going on with their cars.”

Plugging FIXD OBD2 Scanner into OBD2 Port on Car

FIXD was founded out of a desire to bring transparency and peace of mind to the car repair experience. With this affordable and easy-to-use device, you can say goodbye to check engine light anxiety and get back in the driver’s seat with clear, easy-to-understand information at your fingertips.

FIXD tells you what your check engine light means and how severe it is in PLAIN ENGLISH – right on your smartphone – so that you can walk into the mechanic informed.

If you like to tinker, FIXD will even help you fix the issue yourself and avoid labor costs with access to how-to guides and videos for many common check engine problems!

FIXD translates 7000+ check engine codes into plain English on your smartphone and monitors car health in real time so you can save $1000s.

The Best Part?

FIXD was designed for everyday people like you and me – not gearheads. It gives you access to clear, easy-to-understand information about your car BEFORE you go into a repair shop, so you can feel confident and informed about car repair decisions.

No looking up codes or wondering if you’re paying for unnecessary repairs.

You can even clear the check engine light right from the FIXD app on your phone if the problem is easy to fix at home (like a loose gas cap) or if you want to see if the light comes back after further driving.

Pretty cool, right?

But here’s one more thing…

Keep Your Car Running Longer – Even for a Million Miles!

See when it's time for routine maintenance and track wear items with FIXD Maintenance Timeline

FIXD wants to take the stress out of car repairs AND maintenance. How many times have you forgotten the last time you changed your oil? How about the battery?

With FIXD, you’ll never miss important maintenance (the #1 way to keep your car running longer). You’ll automatically get alerted when it’s time for routine service like oil changes and tire rotations. FIXD also tracks wear items like wipers, battery life, and tires.

Taking care of your car has never been easier!

This All Sounds Great, But How Much Does It Cost?

The FIXD Sensor normally costs $59 (not too shabby considering what it can do compared to other OBD2 scanners on the market).

But because the 3 founders are on a mission to democratize auto repair by bringing transparent car knowledge to everyone, they’re making it even more affordable so that they can get FIXD into the hands of as many drivers as possible.

See What Others Are Saying about FIXD:

“To my horror, FIXD gave me about 8 errors, but fortunately, it came down to two parts which were sending the wrong signal to the valves. The parts cost $160 and the labor was not that challenging. Now, the problem is gone. Total, including FIXD, $220.00, a far cry from the $1400 the shop wanted to charge.”
