Explore Your 2006 Honda CR-V Warranty
Your 2006 Honda CR-V warranty offers a great deal of peace of mind and covers a lot of ground, but the full extent depends on the options you choose when you buy the vehicle. The following information allows you to explore your 2006 CR-V coverage so you can be confident knowing what is and is not covered if you have any problems.
When sold new, the 2006 Honda CR-V came with an extensive Factory Warranty (also referred to as a Manufacturer’s Warranty). When exploring your warranty options, please note that many aspects of coverage are described in terms of time and mileage, such as “five years or 50,000 miles.” This means that you’re covered for either five years or when your odometer hits 50,000, whichever of the two comes first.

Factory Warranty
2006 Honda CR-V Basic Warranty
The standard Manufacturer’s Warranty for a 2006 Honda CR-V covered the cost of repairs and replacement for parts that were defective under normal vehicle use. Some parts may have had varying warranty levels, but overall, your CR-V had a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty. This coverage has expired.
2006 Honda CR-V Powertrain Warranty
The 2006 Honda CR-V Powertrain Warranty lasted for five years or 60,000 miles and covered everything from your engine to your transmission, drivetrain, and transaxle. This included front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the CR-V. This coverage has since expired.
Corrosion Perforation Warranty
Your Honda CR-V’s Rust Perforation Limited Warranty offered protection from perforation due to corrosion. This coverage had unlimited miles and lasted for five years, and has now expired.
If you had any surface rust on the vehicle that was not on a body panel, it would not be covered by the Rust Perforation Limited Warranty. In addition, any rust resulting from misuse, abuse, or lack of proper maintenance would void the warranty. Finally, the warranty did not cover damage from road hazards.
Like most warranty coverages, it depended on you keeping your CR-V in good maintenance and under normal driving conditions.
Air Conditioning Warranty
Honda did not offer an air conditioning warranty unless the Factory Warranty covered defective parts found in the system, or refrigerant during the first year. Had you encountered any issues with your air conditioning, you may have had to cover the costs of repairs yourself.
Paint Warranty
Honda did not provide a paint warranty. The Basic Warranty only covered defects in materials and workmanship from the factory, which would have been reported to and fixed by the dealer before taking delivery of the car.
The 2006 Honda CR-V was not subject to the extended paint warranty that covered some other Honda vehicles. For the CR-V, this warranty began with the 2007 model year. If you experienced issues with paint peeling on your CR-V, you would have had to fix it out of pocket.
Battery Warranty
Your original 2006 Honda CR-V battery was warrantied for three years. During this period, any defective battery was replaced for free. This included labor, diagnosis, the cost of the battery, and the cost of installation. This coverage has expired. Any replacement battery sourced from an authorized Honda dealer is covered for 100 months on a pro-rated scale.
Tire Warranty
Your original tires were not covered by Honda but were warrantied by their original manufacturer. The specifics of this coverage depended on the make of tires you had on your car. Most replacement tires have a warranty from the tire manufacturer.
Emissions Warranty
Your Honda CR-V was covered by a Federal Emissions Warranty. This warranty covered your emissions system from defects for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever came first. Any defects under normal operating conditions during this time would have been replaced or repaired at no cost. If your CR-V was registered in California, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, or Vermont, then it would have been covered under the California Emissions Warranty for three years or 50,000 miles. Both warranties have since expired.
In addition, your catalytic converter, engine computer, and onboard diagnostics were required to be covered for eight years or 80,000 miles under the Clean Air Act. This, too, has now expired.
2006 Honda CR-V Warranty Extensions Available Upon Car Purchase
The standard Basic Warranty, as mentioned, covered you for three years. You could have opted for an extended warranty when you purchased the SUV. If you opted for this extended warranty, your coverage could have been extended for up to five years or 50,000 miles, whichever came first.
