Factory Warranty
2008 Honda Accord New Vehicle Limited Warranty
The 2008 Honda Accord included a New Vehicle Limited Warranty that covered the vehicle for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever came first. This has now expired. Coverage started when the vehicle was delivered to the original purchaser or leased to the lessee.
Also known as the Factory Warranty, the New Vehicle Limited Warranty covered most of the vehicle’s components, such as the electrical system and audio and tech components. Additionally, any components covered under other warranties would not qualify for coverage under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Normal wear and tear or deterioration of any component did not qualify for coverage under this warranty.
2008 Honda Accord Powertrain Limited Warranty
The 2008 Honda Accord included a Powertrain Limited Warranty that lasted for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever came first. This coverage has now expired.
The Powertrain Limited Warranty covered components of the vehicle’s powertrain, or the elements that allow it to run properly. These parts include the engine, transmission, front- or rear-wheel drive systems, and all related internal components. Each of these key components does come with several exclusions.
Engine exclusions:
- Starter motor

Rust Perforation Limited Warranty
The 2008 Honda Accord included a Rust Perforation Limited Warranty that lasted for five years with no mileage limit. This warranty has now expired.
The warranty covered body panels that sustained corrosion perforations, or rust that went completely from the outside to the inside. All body panels repaired or replaced under the rust perforation warranty could maintain coverage for the remainder of the five-year warranty period.
Exclusions included:
- Surface rust on any part of the vehicle but the body panels, including the underbody
- Rust caused by misuse, poor maintenance, or abuse
- Rust caused by road hazards, including debris or stones
- Rust caused by immersion of the panel in sand, mud, or water or exposure to corrosive gases or industrial fallout
- Paint matching services
Air Conditioning Warranty
The air conditioning system didn’t have its own separate warranty, but you could have the coolant recharged for the first year of ownership unless it was required for other warranty services. This has now expired.
Paint Warranty
The exterior paint on a 2008 Honda Accord did not have warranty coverage. However, paint issues may have qualified for repair service if the damage was caused by a defect in workmanship or material. This would have needed to be addressed immediately.
Battery Warranty
Honda also included a separate Replacement Battery Limited Warranty on the 2008 Accord that started on the same date as the New Vehicle Limited Warranty and included three years of coverage for a defective battery.
Honda covered the diagnosis, labor, installation, and cost of the new battery for any defective battery within an Accord during the first three years of ownership. After the three-year period, Honda would pay a percentage of the replacement cost of the battery for 64 more months. This coverage didn’t include the labor or installation costs.
Tire Warranty
A tire warranty was provided by the tire manufacturer for the 2008 Honda Accord. The warranty duration depends on the type of tire and the manufacturer’s specifications.
Your Accord may have been equipped with tires from one of the following brands:
- Yokohama
- Goodyear/Dunlop
- Michelin
- Bridgestone/Firestone
Tire warranties vary in mileage and time. It’s important to keep all records of tire services, including rotation and balancing, replacement, and repair. These records can serve as proof of installation and maintenance for warranty coverage in the future.
Federal Emissions Warranty
The Federal Emissions Warranty covered the 2008 Honda Accord for three years or 36,000 miles for vehicles that failed smog check inspections or had defective emissions-related parts. This coverage has now expired.
The Federal Emissions Warranty was included in addition to the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage. However, it only applied to vehicles sold through the Honda Automobile Division by an authorized Honda dealer in one of the 50 states of the U.S., the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
Additionally, the Clean Air Act requires manufacturers to cover the catalytic converter, engine computer, and onboard diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles. If a 2008 Honda Accord failed a smog check during the warranty period, Honda offered all necessary adjustments, repairs, diagnoses, and replacements needed to ensure the vehicle could pass the test in the future. However, any abuse, accident, alteration, or misuse voided the warranty.
The following components were included in the Federal Emissions Warranty:
- Crankcase control system
- Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system
- Evaporative and refueling emissions control systems
- Ignition system
- Exhaust system
- OBD system
- Fuel injection system
- Intake air system
- Transmission control system
- Integrated motor assist system (IMA) for vehicles with hybrid powertrains
- Valve control system
A longer coverage period applied to cars sold in specific states for defective emissions-related parts and lasted for seven years or 70,000 miles. These states included:
- California
- Connecticut
- Maine
- Massachusetts
- Pennsylvania
- Rhode Island
- Vermont
