2011 Honda Pilot Basic Warranty

The New Vehicle Limited Warranty started on the day your Honda Pilot was delivered and was good for three years or 36,000 miles. It covered repairs for parts that were poorly manufactured or defective with normal use. This warranty has expired.

Batteries for remotes and key fobs were covered under this warranty for the first six months, as were wiper blade inserts. This warranty didn’t cover parts that wore out due to normal use such as brake pads and filters. It also didn’t cover chipped, scratched, or broken window glass or the adding of any fluids unless it was part of other warranty work.

2011 Honda Pilot Powertrain Warranty

Your Honda Pilot’s powertrain was under warranty for five years or up to 60,000 miles, whichever came first. This coverage began on the same day as your New Vehicle Limited Warranty, but this warranty is now expired.

The parts of your engine that would have been covered under this warranty were:

  • Cylinder block and head
  • Timing gears and gaskets
  • Timing chain/belt and cover
  • Flywheel
  • Valve covers
  • Oil pan
  • Oil pump
  • Intake and exhaust manifolds
  • Engine mounts
  • Engine/powertrain control module
  • Water pump
  • Fuel pump
  • Seals and gaskets

Also covered under this warranty were the transmission, transaxle, and the front- or all-wheel-drive system, depending on which one your vehicle has.

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

The Rust Perforation Limited Warranty for your 2011 Pilot was good for five years and had no mileage limit. This warranty has expired. It would have covered the cost to replace any panels on your car that rusted through completely. Only the car’s original owner could make a claim for rust damage. If the rust damage to your car’s panels didn’t perforate entirely, it would not be covered.

This warranty didn’t cover rust caused by immersion in water, mud, or sand or rust on underbody panels. You also couldn’t make a claim for rust caused by road debris or hazards or rust on panels that were replaced after the retail sale of the vehicle.

Air Conditioning Warranty

The Honda Pilot did not have a warranty specifically for the air conditioning system. It was covered by the basic warranty, which has now expired. However, coolant recharges were only covered under warranty for the first year of ownership.

Paint Warranty

Honda doesn’t provide a warranty for items related to the appearance of their vehicles, and there’s no paint warranty for the 2011 Pilot. The basic warranty only covered defects in materials or workmanship from the factory. If there were any imperfections in the paint or body when you took possession of the vehicle when it was new, you would have needed to address it with the dealer right away.

Battery Warranty

The battery that came with your Pilot was covered under warranty for the first three years with unlimited miles. This warranty has now expired. Any defects or premature battery failures within the first three years of ownership would have gotten your battery replaced at no charge to you.

Tire Warranty

Tires are covered under a separate manufacturer’s warranty for most vehicles, including the 2011 Honda Pilot. You can contact your tire manufacturer for more information regarding the warranty on your car’s tires, or talk to your dealer if you need help getting in touch with the tire manufacturer. On a vehicle this old, any warranty on the original tires has likely expired. Most will no longer have their original tires, as well.

Emissions Warranty

The Federal Emissions Warranty was good for three years or 36,000 miles. Residents in California and states following their stricter standards had coverage for three years or 50,000 miles, with some components covered for seven years or 70,000 miles. All of these warranties have now expired. These states include Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.

Parts of the emissions system that were covered under the basic warranty were:

  • Crankcase control system
  • Evaporative and refueling emissions control system
  • Exhaust gas recirculating system
  • Exhaust system
  • Ignition system
  • Fuel injection system
  • OBD system
  • Transmission control system
  • Intake air system
  • Valve control system

The catalytic converter, engine computer, and onboard diagnostic system may have had coverage for eight years or 80,000 miles due to the Clean Air Act’s standards.

FAQs

If you still have questions about your 2011 Honda Pilot warranty, consider the answers to these frequently asked questions:

Starting on the same day as the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, your 2011 Honda Pilot’s Seat Belt Warranty went into effect. This warranty will cover the cost to repair any seat belts in the vehicle due to faulty manufacturing for 15 years or up to 150,000 miles. This warranty is still in effect.

If your 2011 Honda Pilot has accessories that were installed prior to retail sale, they were covered for the same period as the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Accessories that were installed after the retail sale by a Honda dealer were covered for the time remaining on the New Vehicle Limited Warranty or one year. These accessories are no longer under warranty.

For as long as you are the original owner of your 2011 Honda Pilot, your exhaust muffler, A-pipe, and B-pipe are covered under the Replacement Exhaust Components Lifetime Limited Warranty. This warranty doesn’t cover other parts of the exhaust, such as gaskets and mounting hardware, or any labor or parts associated with repairing the exhaust system that aren’t included in the warranted components.

Any replacement parts for your 2011 Honda Pilot that are purchased from a Honda dealer have a one-year warranty, no matter where you have them installed. If you get remanufactured parts to repair your Pilot, they’re also covered under warranty for one year. Honda will pay to repair these parts if they are found to be defective under normal use.

With this information, you should have a better understanding of your 2011 Honda Pilot Warranty. Because your factory warranty expired, you may be looking to reduce out-of-pocket expenses with an extended warranty. Be sure to check out the FIXD+CARCHEX Vehicle Protection Plan.
