What Your 2015 Honda Odyssey Warranty Covers

The 2015 Honda Odyssey car warranty is comprehensive and multilayered to the point where it can be tough to keep track of exactly what is covered on your minivan. Terms often thrown around with warranties include manufacturer warranties, factory warranties, and bumper-to-bumper warranties, and they all mean different things. Plus, you’ll need to know what warranties still apply today to your 2015 Odyssey and which ones have since expired.

One of the most basic aspects of warranties to understand is how they’re represented. A warranty is expressed in terms of years and mileage, such as three years or 36,000 miles. The warranty expires when you reach three years or 36,000 miles on the car. The one that comes first marks its expiration. Given the age of the 2015 Odyssey, you’ve already reached that threshold on quite a few warranty coverages.

To help you better understand the factory warranty for the 2015 Odyssey, we’ve compiled this handy chart that lets you see the most important information at a glance.

Factory Warranty

2015 Honda Odyssey Basic Warranty

The New Vehicle Limited Warranty for the 2015 Odyssey lasted for three years or 36,000 miles, meaning it expired in 2018 at the latest. This warranty is the one that covered just about everything that could go wrong with the minivan due to manufacturing defects. Some parts covered under this warranty were additionally covered under other warranties.

2015 Honda Odyssey Powertrain Warranty

Closeup disassembled car automatic transmission gear part on workbench at garage or repair factory station for fix service or maintenance. Vehicle part detail. Complex industrial mechanism background.

With the Powertrain Limited Warranty, you were covered for five years or 60,000 miles, so this likely would’ve just recently expired. When it was active, it covered the engine, its parts, the transmission, and the drivetrain system. Just note that you had to maintain proper operation for this warranty to work.

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

The Odyssey’s Rust Perforation Limited Warranty was good for five years without any limitation on miles. This warranty was used to replace body panels that rusted from the inside out. If you took advantage of this warranty in the past, though, any new body panels did not come with new warranties. Every panel, no matter how new or old, was only covered for the original five years from the date of the vehicle purchase.

Air Conditioning Warranty

The air conditioner was covered under the Federal Emissions Warranty for three years or 36,000 miles, but that only applied to the general air conditioning system. If you’re a resident of a state that follows California’s standards, this coverage was slightly longer at three years or 50,000 miles.

The refrigerant specifically had coverage limited to two years or 24,000 miles.

Paint Warranty

While there is no specific paint warranty for the 2015 Odyssey, paint defects were included in the three-year or 36,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Just keep in mind that this was only good for paint defects and didn’t apply to damage caused by accidents or paint matching.

Battery Warranty

The original, 12-volt battery that came with the 2015 Honda Odyssey was covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty for three years or 36,000 miles. As of 2022, this coverage has expired.

Tire Warranty

The tires on your 2015 Odyssey are warranted separately from the rest of the vehicle, with the warranty being issued by the tire manufacturer directly. You’ll have to talk to them to get details, as they all tend to have different policies from one another.

Emissions Warranty

In most states, you were covered under the Federal Emissions Warranty for three years or 36,000 miles, but California and several other states operate under the three-year or 50,000 mile standard, with certain parts being covered for as long as seven years or 70,000 miles in these states. The Clean Air Act also requires certain parts like the onboard diagnostics, engine computer, and catalytic converter to be covered for eight years or 80,000 miles.

2015 Honda Odyssey Warranty Extensions Available Upon Car Purchase

When you first bought the 2015 Odyssey, you likely had the opportunity to purchase an extended warranty that’s good for eight years or 120,000 miles. This is often an extension of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage, though the details would vary based on the dealership.

2015 Honda Odyssey Extended Warranty Available Now

Considering how much coverage is available with extended warranties, many drivers are opting for new warranties for older vehicles. A 2015 Odyssey is relatively new compared to some of the vehicles that qualify for new extended warranties, so it should be easy to find something.

FAQs

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about the 2015 Honda Odyssey warranty.

Several factors can potentially void your warranty apart from the natural passage of time that leads to its expiration. If you don’t properly operate the vehicle, such as by exceeding the speed limit or payload capacity, that could void the warranty. Additionally, the warranty is voided if your vehicle is damaged in a natural disaster or if the odometer is tampered with in any way.

The warranty could be transferred to a new owner, but only if the transfer happened within the original New Vehicle Limited Warranty period of three years or 36,000 miles. It could be transferred a theoretically infinite amount of times as long as it was within that time period. Note that the new owner would only have gotten what was remaining on the original warranty rather than it starting from the beginning.

The Replacement Battery Warranty for the 2015 Odyssey worked on a tiered system, only being completely covered for three years. Coverage lasts for eight years and four months in total, but the amount of coverage decreases steadily after the three-year mark. You’re likely on the tail end of this warranty by now, and at this point, it probably covers just 5% to 10% of battery replacement costs.

Being seven or so years old now, only a few 2015 Odyssey warranties are still in place. If you got an extended warranty at purchase, that could still be in effect. The Seat Belt Warranty may also still be in place given its 15-year or 50,000-mile period.

Normal wear and tear is not covered under any warranty, and you often won’t find that as an option for new extended warranties either. Warranties are typically restricted to problems that go beyond the normal expected wear and tear.

The 2015 Honda Odyssey warranty is comprehensive, though much of it has likely already expired for you. Getting a new extended warranty may be an efficient way to ensure peace of mind behind the wheel for years to come.

If your factory warranty has expired and you’re looking to reduce out-of-pocket expenses, be sure to check out the FIXD+CARCHEX Vehicle Protection Plan.
