What’s Included in Your 2017 Honda Odyssey Warranty?

Owning a car can lead to many questions. For instance, does your manufacturer cover defects in your transmission? While the 2017 Honda Odyssey came with a New Vehicle Limited Warranty that has since expired, you may still want to know what kind of coverage is available for manufacturer defects. For instance, an emissions warranty that is valid for three years or 36,000 miles expires either after three years or after 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Factory Warranty

2017 Honda Odyssey Basic Warranty

The New Vehicle Limited Warranty covered the 2017 Honda Odyssey for three years or 36,000 miles. This coverage was available to repair or replace defective workmanship or defective parts and materials.

The warranty did not cover part failure caused by abuse or misuse, nor did it cover the poor installation of aftermarket parts. Additionally, the warranty did not cover vehicles used in competitions, including races.

2017 Honda Odyssey Powertrain Warranty 

Honda offered a Powertrain Warranty for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever came first. The powertrain components covered included the transmission, engine, and front-wheel-drive system.

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

Honda offers a Rust Perforation Warranty, but it was only available for the vehicle’s original owner or lessee for the first five years of ownership. Coverage could not be transferred.

This warranty took effect if a body panel was completely rusted through from the inside. Once repaired or replaced, body panels were still covered for only the remainder of the original five years. Additionally, rust that didn’t completely perforate the body of the car was covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

Air Conditioning Warranty

Honda did not offer a separate air conditioning warranty. The air conditioner was covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty for three years or 36,000 miles.

Paint Warranty

Honda did not offer a Paint Warranty for the 2017 Honda Odyssey. Paint and other cosmetic damages may have been covered only if the issues were spotted immediately upon the vehicle purchase.

Battery Warranty

The 2017 Honda Odyssey’s original equipment battery was covered for three years or 36,000 miles under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. This has now expired.

Tire Warranty

Honda did not offer a tire warranty with the 2017 Honda Odyssey. Owners who have questions about tire coverage should speak with a Honda dealership or the tire manufacturer to learn more about warranty coverage.

Emissions Warranty

The Honda Emissions Warranty was available for three years or 36,000 miles. This coverage was available to repair or replace components of the emissions system damaged by a factory defect. States participating in the California Emissions Warranty program may require additional coverage.

This Federal Emissions Warranty did not cover emissions system problems related to abuse, accident, or misuse. It also didn’t cover malfunctions or failures related to using nonapproved gasoline. The warranty did not cover maintenance items, including filters, hoses, or belts after the first maintenance milestone.

According to the Clean Air Act, Honda and other vehicle manufacturers must provide warranty coverage for some emissions components for eight years or 80,000 miles. This means you may still have warranty coverage for your onboard diagnostics and engine computer, for example.

2017 Honda Odyssey Warranty Extensions Available Upon Car Purchase 

Honda offered a Honda Care extended vehicle service contract for those who bought the 2017 Honda Odyssey new. This extended contract would provide coverage for up to eight years or 120,000 miles, extending the Basic Warranty.
