We’ve put together a list of answers to Honda owners’ most frequently asked warranty questions in our FAQ section. In addition, we’ll highlight the critical details of your 2018 Honda Pilot’s warranty, so you know what coverage is still in effect, what has already lapsed, and what to do next so you stay protected.
Factory Warranty
2018 Honda Pilot Basic Warranty
Honda’s Basic Warranty (also called the New Vehicle Limited Warranty or Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty) runs for three years or 36,000 miles. However, this coverage has expired.
This warranty started on the day the vehicle first left the dealership new. It also covered original components like wiper blade inserts, key fob batteries, remote batteries for six months, wheel balancing and alignment for one year or 12,000 miles, and air conditioning refrigerant for two years or 24,000 miles. This coverage also expired.
Honda’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty didn’t cover every component of your 2018 Pilot. This policy excluded items and services like normal wear and tear, routine maintenance, cleaning, minor cosmetic flaws, adding fluids, and broken glass.
2018 Honda Pilot Powertrain Warranty
Your 2018 Honda Pilot’s powertrain had protection for five years or 60,000 miles against defective components. This coverage is still valid.
Honda will pay to repair or replace the internal and external parts of your vehicle’s powertrain system completely free, including the engine, transmission, transaxle, and front- or rear-wheel-drive system, as equipped on your model.
Corrosion Perforation Warranty
Honda’s Rust Perforation Limited Warranty protects your 2018 Pilot for five years, and this coverage has no mileage limits. This warranty is also still valid.
Honda’s corrosion protection policy covers only those body panels that rust perforates from the inside out. This coverage also transfers to panels previously serviced under this warranty for the remaining five-year policy period. Only the vehicle owner can file a claim for corrosion protection, and this warranty comes with many exclusions, including paint matching, underbody corrosion, and oxidation caused by:
- Lack of maintenance
- Abuse or misuse
- Immersion in corrosive materials like water
- Road hazards
Battery Warranty
Your 2018 Honda Pilot’s Basic Warranty covers the original equipment battery for three years or 36,000 miles. As of 2022, this warranty has expired.
Air Conditioning Warranty
Honda covered your 2018 Pilot’s air conditioning system under the Emissions Warranty for three years or 36,000 miles in most states or 50,000 miles in states that recognize California Emissions regulations. The New Vehicle Limited Warranty also covered the refrigerant for two years or 24,000 miles. This warranty protection has expired.
Paint Warranty
Paint is not covered under any warranties for the 2019 Honda Pilot unless the damage is due to a flaw in workmanship or other defect. Honda requires that owners contact the dealership as soon as possible after purchase to report these issues.
Tire Warranty
Honda does not warranty tires. The original manufacturer provided this coverage. However, it’s unlikely that this original equipment is still on your 2018 Pilot.
Contact your local dealership for assistance if you believe your tires, including the spare, still are under warranty. You can also call the original manufacturer directly and inquire about their warranty policy. Honda used the following tire companies in 2018:
- Yokohama (800-722-9888)
- Michelin (800-847-3435)
- Goodyear/Dunlap (800-321-2136)
- Continental (800-847-3349)
- Bridgestone/Firestone (800-367-3872)
Federal Emissions Warranty
Honda’s Federal Emissions Warranty protects your 2018Pilot for three years or 36,000 miles, while the California Emissions Warranty (states listed below) is good for three years or 50,000 miles. This coverage has expired, but your Pilot may have other emissions warranty protection.
The Clean Air Act requires Honda to warranty the engine computer, catalytic converter, and onboard diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles. You may also have additional protection if you live in a state that adopted California’s stringent emission regulations.
In addition to these coverages, the California Emissions Warranty also provides seven years or 70,000 miles of warranty coverage if your vehicle fails an EPA-approved smog test. During this period, the automaker will diagnose, adjust, repair, or replace necessary components to bring your Pilot into compliance. Take your vehicle and a copy of the failed emissions report to an authorized Honda dealer for service. These states include:
- California
- Connecticut
- Delaware
- Maine
- Maryland
- Massachusetts
- New Jersey
- New York
- Oregon
- Pennsylvania
- Rhode Island
- Vermont
- Washington

FAQs
Honda owners know they can come to us for straight answers. That’s why we put together this list of the common questions other 2018 Pilot owners have about their warranty coverage:
Does Honda Have a 100,000-Mile Warranty?
Honda’s Factory Warranty runs for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The company doesn’t offer a 100,000-mile warranty. However, its Corrosion Perforation Warranty doesn’t have any mileage limits, just its five-year limited time frame.
Does Honda Offer a Replacement Battery Warranty?
Yes. While the basic coverage has lapsed, Honda offers a declining credit toward the purchase of a replacement battery during the remaining 64 months of the warranty. This credit ranges from 60% to 5%, and you’re responsible for the remaining balance, plus installation and labor costs.
What Are Honda's Basic Warranty Terms and Conditions?
To take advantage of any remaining warranty coverage on your 2018 Pilot, you must adhere to Honda’s warranty terms and conditions. This means you should maintain your vehicle according to the specifications in the warranty manual.
Honda offers a generous New Vehicle Limited Warranty on all its models. However, most of the coverage on your 2018 Pilot has expired. Consider shopping around for an extended warranty policy, so you can relax knowing you’re covered for expensive repairs.
If your factory warranty has expired and you’re looking to reduce out-of-pocket expenses, be sure to check out the CARCHEX+FIXD Vehicle Protection Plan.
