Learn What Your 2019 Honda Fit Warranty Covers

Some warranty coverage for the 2019 Honda Fit, like the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, is expired or will expire soon. Other warranty terms, like the Powertrain Warranty, may have time left. What coverage is still available depends on the original purchase date and mileage of your Fit.

Manufacturer’s Warranty coverage can be great, but it’s important that you understand its benefits and limitations if you’re going to take full advantage of it. To help you sort through all the details in your 2019 Honda Fit warranty brochure, we’ve created this guide.

It should give you a better grasp on what is and isn’t covered when the time comes to make repairs. You can also find the answers to more questions you may have by reading to the end of the article, where we’ve included a FAQ section.

Factory Warranty

It’s important to note that all limitations of your warranty are listed as both time and mileage, but your warranty expires depending on which one you reach first. For example, if you hit the 60,000-mile limit before the five-year cap is up, your Powertrain Warranty is still expired, regardless of how much time is left.

Here’s an overview of the warranties and how long they last.

2019 Honda Fit Factory Warranty Coverage:
Basic Warranty:3 years or 36,000 miles
Powertrain Warranty:5 years or 60,000 miles
Corrosion Perforation Warranty:5 years with no mileage limit
Air Conditioning Warranty:3 years or 36,000 miles
Battery Warranty:3 years or 36,000 miles
Emissions Warranty:

3 years or 36,000 miles

3 years or 50,000 miles in some states

8 years or 80,000 miles on some parts

2019 Honda Fit Basic Warranty

New Vehicle Limited Warranty for the 2019 Honda Fit started on the same day the first owner took possession of the vehicle. It’s valid for three years or 36,000 miles, and you may still have some coverage under this warranty.

If your car is over 36,000 miles or has been owned for three or more years, the warranty is expired. This warranty will pay to repair parts that are defective due to poor workmanship or materials. It won’t pay for any repairs related to

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Deterioration that happens with regular use
  • Broken, scratched, or chipped window glass
  • Replenishing fluids that are not part of other repair work
  • Items that get worn naturally, like brake pads or spark plugs

2019 Honda Fit Powertrain Warranty

Your Powertrain Limited Warranty started on the same day as the New Vehicle Limited Warranty and is good for five years or 60,000 miles. This coverage is still in effect for your 2019 Honda Fit unless your car has over 60,000 miles.

Any necessary powertrain repairs to the engine, transmission, transaxle, or drive system are free of charge. Parts covered under this warranty include

  • Cylinder block and head
  • Timing chain/belt and cover
  • Oil, water, and fuel pumps
  • Transmission case and all internal parts
  • Torque converter
  • Final drive housing
  • Driveshafts
  • Front hubs and bearings
  • Seals and gaskets

This list is not exhaustive, and some parts may have coverage under other warranties.

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

If you’re the original owner of the 2019 Honda Fit, you can take advantage of the Rust Perforation Limited Warranty, which is good for five years. This warranty has no mileage limit, so it’s still in effect. Coverage started on the same day you took ownership of the vehicle.

You won’t have to pay for any of the repairs made under this warranty, but some of its exclusions include

  • Rust caused by road debris or hazards
  • Rust caused by immersion of panels in water, sand, or mud
  • Rust caused by lack of maintenance or misuse
  • Rust on underbody panels or any parts other than panels
  • Rust on panels that were replaced unless it was under this warranty

Air Conditioning Warranty

Under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, you have coverage for your air conditioning system. This coverage lasts for three years or 36,000 miles, so it’s possible you still have some time remaining on this warranty.

Recharging the coolant was covered for two years or 24,000 miles. This portion of the coverage fell under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty and is no longer valid.

Paint Warranty

Master mechanic polishes red car with polisher, detailing series.

Any flaws that may have occurred to the body or paint job of your 2019 Honda Fit during transit needed to be addressed with the dealer right away. Honda doesn’t provide a warranty for anything related to the appearance of its vehicles, including the exterior paint.

Battery Warranty

The 2019 Honda Fit has warranty coverage for the battery under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. This coverage will pay to replace the battery as well as for labor and installation fees. It’s good for the same three-year, 36,000-mile period, so you may have some time left on this warranty.

Tire Warranty

Your tires don’t have a warranty from Honda. Instead, the manufacturer that supplied the tires provides the warranty for them. Your New Vehicle Limited Warranty would have paid for wheel balancing and wheel alignment for the first year or 12,000 miles, but this coverage has expired.

If Honda determines that a problem with your 2019 Honda Fit is the result of a tire issue, they can help you get in touch with the manufacturer. Check the Honda website to find a Tire Warranty statement. The company uses tires from these manufacturers:

Emissions Warranty

The emissions system in your 2019 Honda Fit has a Federal Emissions Warranty that covers it for three years or 36,000 miles. In California, the emissions system has coverage for 50,000 miles unless it has a PZEV certification, which covers the emissions components for 15 years or 150,000 miles.

This means, depending on where you live and when you bought your car, you may still have coverage under this warranty. With the Federal Emissions Warranty, you have coverage for these components:

  • Crankcase control system
  • Evaporative and refueling emissions control systems
  • Exhaust gas recirculation system
  • Exhaust system
  • Ignition system
  • Fuel injection system
  • OBD system
  • Transmission control system
  • Intake air system
  • Valve control system
  • Air conditioning system
  • Active grille shutter
  • Active seat ventilation
  • High-efficiency light

The Clean Air Act also required Honda to cover some parts of the emissions system for eight years or 80,000 miles.

FAQs

For even more information on your 2019 Honda Fit warranty, read the answers to the most frequently asked questions about it below.

If the original 12-volt battery is replaced with a new one under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, the new battery has a Replacement 12-Volt Battery Limited Warranty that’s good for 100 months. Installation and parts are free for the first 36 months, but coverage is prorated after that.

Starting on the same day as the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, the Seat Belt Limited Warranty went into effect for the seat belts in your 2019 Honda Fit. This coverage lasts for 15 years or 150,000 miles and pays to replace seat belts that are defective due to workmanship or low-quality materials.

Warranty coverage you still have for your 2019 Honda Fit will transfer to a new owner. The only exception is the Rust Perforation Limited Warranty. This means if you have any time or mileage left on the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, a new owner can take over whatever coverage is left.

Replacement parts for your 2019 Honda Fit have a one-year warranty or are covered until the New Vehicle Warranty expires if they’re purchased from an authorized Honda dealer. Remanufactured parts come with a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty when installed by a Honda dealer.
