What Your 2019 Honda Pilot Warranty Covers
The 2019 Honda Pilot warranty covers many repairs and maintenance services, helping you keep your Pilot in good condition without breaking the bank. Given how recently the 2019 Pilot was released, most of the warranty coverage is still active, so make sure you check to see whether a certain service is covered before paying out of pocket.
A Factory Warranty is the manufacturer-issued warranty that comes with your vehicle, and it covers a wide variety of repairs and services . It’s important to understand how various services are covered and for how long. A warranty’s length is measured by time and mileage, so you might find one that lasts three years or 36,000 miles. Whichever threshold you meet first marks the warranty’s expiration. So if you drive 36,000 miles in just two years, the warranty would expire before the three-year mark.
To understand the coverage you can enjoy from your warranty, we’ve compiled a convenient chart that reviews the 2019 Pilot’s warranty at a glance.

2019 Honda Pilot Basic Warranty
The Basic Warranty for the 2019 Honda Pilot lasts three years or 36,000 miles, and it covers nearly every aspect of the vehicle. It does not, however, cover normal wear and tear or cleaning and polishing. Only problems caused by manufacturer faults or defects are covered under the Basic Warranty.
2019 Honda Pilot Powertrain Warranty
With the Powertrain Warranty, you’ll have coverage for five years or 60,000 miles depending on which comes first. This policy covers the engine, transmission, transaxle, and drivetrain system. These parts are also covered under the Basic Warranty but get additional coverage from the Powertrain Warranty.
Corrosion Perforation Warranty
Corrosion perforation or rust perforation is covered under warranty for five years without mileage limits. Any body panel that rusted from the inside out can be replaced under this warranty. New replacement panels are only covered for the remainder of the original five-year warranty.
Air Conditioning Warranty
The air conditioning in the 2019 Pilot is covered as a part of the Emissions Warranty, which varies based on where you live. Under federal rules, the warranty lasts three years or 50,000 miles, In California and states that have adopted its rules, the warranty lasts seven years or 70,000 miles.
Paint Warranty
The paint is covered under the Basic Warranty for three years or 36,000 miles, but it only includes paint defects and manufacturer errors. Paint matching is not covered, even if the mismatched paint is a result of a warranty-covered repair.
Battery Warranty
The original equipment battery in your 2019 Honda Pilot is covered under the basic warranty for three years or 36,000 miles. Depending on when you bought your vehicle, this warranty is either expired or about to expire.
Tire Warranty
The tires on your 2019 Pilot are warrantied by their manufacturer rather than Honda. Contact your tires’ manufacturer directly for more details about your warranty. If you need help, your local Honda dealer can point you in the right direction.
Emissions Warranty
Honda’s Federal Emissions Warranty protected your 2019 Pilot for three years or 36,000 miles in most states and 50,000 miles in California Emissions states (listed below). This coverage has expired. However, you may still have protection.
The Clean Air Act requires Honda to warranty the engine computer, catalytic converter, and onboard diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles. You may also have additional protection if you live in a state that adopted California’s stringent emission regulations.
In addition to these coverages, the California Emissions Warranty also provides seven years or 70,000 miles of warranty coverage if your vehicle fails an EPA-approved smog test. During this period, the automaker will diagnose, adjust, repair, or replace necessary components to bring your Pilot into compliance. Take your vehicle and a copy of the failed emissions report to an authorized Honda dealer for service. These states include:
- California
- Connecticut
- Delaware
- Maine
- Maryland
- Massachusetts
- New Jersey
- New York
- Oregon
- Pennsylvania
- Rhode Island
- Vermont
- Washington

FAQs
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about the 2019 Honda Pilot warranty:
What Is the Seat Belt Warranty?
The Seat Belt Warranty for the 2019 Pilot is good for 15 years or 150,000 miles, making it one of the longest-lasting warranties for the vehicle. Just remember it only covers repairs caused by defects and not comfort or cosmetic issues, misuse, or accidental damage.
Are Accessories Covered?
Accessories for your 2019 Pilot are covered depending on where you bought them and how they were installed. Accessories bought from and installed by a Honda dealer are covered for one year or the remaining time on your Basic Warranty, depending on which is longer. Remanufactured parts are covered for three years or 36,000 miles worth, starting at the date of purchase.
What Is Proper Operation?
Several warranty stipulations for the 2019 Pilot require you to operate the vehicle properly. That means you must drive it regularly and within the speed limit and get regular maintenance.
Can a Claim Be Rejected for Not Maintaining Proper Operation?
It’s possible for a warranty claim to be rejected if the cause of the problem is your failure to maintain proper operation of the vehicle. If the problem is due to a manufacturer defect, however, it doesn’t matter whether you maintained the vehicle well, so long as that negligence didn’t cause the problem in question.
With so much coverage still in place, the 2019 Pilot is protected by a generous Factory Warranty. Still, your Basic Warranty is set to expire if it hasn’t already, and you need to be prepared for any necessary repairs or maintenance going forward.
If your factory warranty has expired and you’re looking to reduce out-of-pocket expenses, be sure to check out the FIXD+CARCHEX Vehicle Protection Plan. And remember, the best way to ensure warranty coverage (and prevent costly repairs in the first place) is to follow your manufacturer-recommended maintenance schedule.
