Factory Warranty

2021 Honda Pilot New Vehicle Limited Warranty

Honda’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty lasts for three years or 36,000 miles from the date the vehicle first left the dealership. It covers original components like key fob batteries and wiper blades for six months, as well as wheel balancing and alignment for one year or 12,000 miles.

This policy doesn’t protect every component of your 2021 Pilot. Normal wear and tear, routine maintenance, cleaning, minor cosmetic flaws, adding fluids, and broken glass are all excluded from coverage.

2021 Honda Pilot Powertrain Limited Warranty

Honda offers an attractive Powertrain Limited Warranty for your 2021 Pilot. This coverage lasts five years or 60,000 miles and protects you against defective components in your vehicle’s powertrain system.

Honda will pay to repair or replace covered parts completely free of charge, including the engine, transmission, transaxle, and front- or rear-wheel-drive system, as equipped on your model.

Rust Perforation Limited Warranty

Rust over the wheel of a silver car

Honda’s Rust Perforation Limited Warranty protects your 2021 Pilot for five years with no mileage limits. It covers body panels that become perforated by rust from the inside out, as well as panels previously serviced under this warranty, but only for the remainder of the five-year term.

This warranty doesn’t transfer to your insurance company, and only the vehicle owner can file a claim for corrosion protection. Unfortunately, this policy also comes with exclusions, including paint matching, underbody corrosion, and rust caused by:

  • Lack of maintenance
  • Abuse or misuse
  • Road hazards, like rocks
  • Immersion in corrosive materials, like water

Original Equipment Battery Limited Warranty

Honda’s Original Equipment Battery Limited Warranty provides up to three years of protection with no mileage limits. The manufacturer will replace a defective battery for free, including parts, labor, and installation.

Air Conditioning Warranty

Honda provides a three-year or 36,000-mile air conditioning warranty period. If your 2021 Pilot’s air conditioning system needs refrigerant, it’s covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty for two years or 24,000 miles.

Paint Warranty

Car paint repair series : Sanding door paint

Honda doesn’t offer a Paint Warranty on any of its models, including the 2021 Pilot. However, if you take advantage of the Rust Perforation Limited Warranty, it will attempt to match the original paint color on serviced body panels.

Cosmetic flaws or minor damage to the paint that occurred before you took delivery of the vehicle are excluded. Honda also solely decides how much of the warrantied body panels will be repainted. It won’t refinish the entire vehicle for paint matching or cosmetic purposes.

Tire Warranty

Honda does not warranty the tires that came on your 2021 Pilot. The original manufacturer provides this coverage. If your vehicle is still equipped with the original tires, including the spare, you may be protected.

If your tires need repair and you believe they’re still covered, you can call the original manufacturer directly and inquire about their warranty policy or contact your local Honda dealership for assistance. Honda installed tires from the following companies in 2021:

  • Bridgestone/Firestone (800-367-3872)
  • Continental (800-847-3349)
  • Goodyear/Dunlap (800-321-2136)
  • Hancock (800-426-2625)
  • JK (877-755-8973)
  • Kenda (800-225-4714)
  • Maxxis (800-462-9947)
  • Michelin (800-847-3435)

Federal Emissions Warranty

Honda’s Federal Emissions Warranty protects your 2021 Pilot for three years or 36,000 miles. Any qualified technician can do repair work, replacement, or maintenance of any emissions control part or system using certified components. Even after this coverage expires, you may still be protected.

The Clean Air Act requires Honda to warranty the engine computer, catalytic converter, and onboard diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles. You may also be entitled to additional protection if you live in a state that adopted California’s stringent emission regulations.

In that case, you’ll get seven years or 70,000 miles of coverage if your vehicle fails an EPA-approved smog test. During this period, the automaker will diagnose, adjust, repair, or replace necessary components to bring your Pilot into compliance. These states include:

  • California
  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Maine
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont
  • Washington

FAQs

Honda owners know they can come to us for clear and concise answers to often confusing automotive topics. So here are the most frequently asked questions about the 2021 Pilot’s warranty coverage:

Your 2021 Pilot also comes with a 15-year or 150,000-mile Seat Belt Limited Warranty as well as a three years or 36,000 miles of coverage for your accessories. You’ll also get a one-year warranty on replacement parts.

Honda offers a three-year or 36,000-mile warranty on your emissions system, so if you fail a smog inspection, take your vehicle and a copy of the failed emissions report to an authorized Honda dealer for free diagnosis and repair.

While your 2021 Pilot is still protected by Honda’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty, you won’t always have this protection. So once you’re approaching the three-year or 36,000-mile mark, it’s time to shop for an extended warranty. This policy can be a sound financial decision for many car owners.

Honda offers a generous warranty package that covers most of your 2021 Pilot’s systems and parts. Remember to follow the manufacturer’s routine maintenance program so that you don’t void your vehicle’s coverage. When your Factory Warranty coverage expires and you need to reduce out-of-pocket expenses, be sure to check out the CARCHEX+FIXD Vehicle Protection Plan.
