2014 Honda CR-V Warranty — What’s Covered & What’s Not
Honda boasts an exceptional factory warranty (otherwise known as a manufacturer’s warranty), and your 2014 Honda CR-V warranty is no exception. The full extent of the coverage you get, and how long it lasts, depends on the choices you make when you buy the car. We offer all the information you need to understand your 2014 CR-V warranty and know what is and is not covered.
Most warranties (including those listed here) will have coverage described in terms of time and mileage, such as “two-year/24,000 miles.” In this example, it means that you’ll enjoy two years’ worth of coverage — unless you hit 24,000 miles on the odometer before the two years is over, in which case the coverage will end early.
Your CR-V will have separate warranty coverage on many different things, including the drivetrain and full bumper-to-bumper coverage as well as batteries, emissions, and even a manufacturer warranty on tires. For more information, check out the frequently asked questions list below.

Factory Warranty
2014 Honda CR-V Basic Warranty
The Basic Warranty for your 2014 Honda CR-V covered was good for three years or 36,000 miles. Covered parts under this warranty would have been repaired or replaced at no cost to you if they broke under normal operations during this period. This warranty is expired. Your Honda dealer can give you more information about the specifics of the warranty coverage.
2014 Honda CR-V Powertrain Warranty
Before expiring, your 2014 Honda CR-V Powertrain Warranty provided coverage for your transaxle, drivetrain, engine, and a few other parts for both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive models for five years or 60,000 miles. The warranty included replacement and repair costs for the covered parts if something went wrong or had a defect.
Corrosion Perforation Warranty
The 2014 Honda CR-V offered five years of Rust Perforation Limited Warranty coverage to the original purchaser of the vehicle but is now expired. There was no mileage limit. Under this warranty, Honda replaced any original body panel that rusts totally through from the inside out, including those previously replaced under the warranty.
Air Conditioning Warranty
Honda now offers air conditioning coverage. The 2014 Honda CR-V warranty covered air conditioner refrigerant for up to two years or 24,000 miles after the initial purchase. The air conditioner system itself is part of the emissions warranty, which covered repairs and replacement of the system for three years or 36,000 miles in most states or three years/50,000 miles in states that recognize California emissions regulations. It has expired.
Paint Warranty
Honda does not provide specific warranty coverage for paint problems on the 2014 CR-V. Any paint protection was limited to what was inherent in the rust perforation coverage, which only applied to specific body panels. If you encountered other paint issues, you would have needed to cover them out of pocket.
Battery Warranty
The original battery that came with the 2014 CR-V had warranty protection for three years or 36,000 miles. This covered the labor for replacement and the cost of the new battery. The coverage is now expired. In addition, any replacement batteries secured from a Honda dealership are covered for up to 100 months, though the coverage is prorated over time.
Tire Warranty
Your 2014 Honda CR-V’s tires were warranted by the tire manufacturer. They were not part of the standard warranty — each tire manufacturer has its own warranty policy. You will need to contact the manufacturer directly to learn about their policies, but your local Honda dealership can help you get in touch with the right people.
Emissions Warranty
Federal emissions standards required coverage that lasted for three years or 36,000 miles. In addition, if you live in California or one of 12 other states following its standards, your emissions system would have expanded coverage of three years or 50,000 miles.
Your dealership can give you specific information about your emissions warranty, but remember that your system must fail due to a defect under normal operating conditions for the coverage to take effect. In addition, according to the Clean Air Act, your dealer must warranty your catalytic converter, engine computer, and onboard diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles.
2014 Honda CR-V Warranty Extensions Available Upon Car Purchase
When you bought your car, you were presented with the opportunity to extend your warranty. An extended warranty would cover you for up to eight years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first. This extended coverage is either expired or just about to, depending on when you purchased your vehicle.
The costs of extended warranty coverage can be several thousand dollars, depending on your vehicle and dealership.
2014 Honda CR-V Extended Warranties Available Now
Sometimes you may be able to purchase extended warranty coverage after you buy the vehicle. While many dealerships offer varying options for such coverage, they can usually extend your coverage by a few years or up to about 100,000 miles for a few thousand dollars. Be sure to investigate these offerings, as some may require special circumstances to maintain coverage.

FAQs
We are pleased to provide answers to some of the most commonly asked questions regarding the 2014 Honda CR-V.
What Is Covered Under My Emissions Warranty?
Your federal or California emissions warranty covers a range of parts and systems. These include your exhaust system, ignition, air intake, fuel injection, crankcase, valve control, evaporative and refueling control, and exhaust gas recirculation systems.
What Does a Manufacturer Defect Mean?
Warranty coverage that is dependent upon a manufacturer defect means there must be something wrong with the part itself that causes it to fail under normal operations. If you are negligent in maintaining your car or otherwise responsible for damage that causes failure, it may not be covered.
Do I Have Seat Belt Warranty Coverage?
Honda covers seat belts for 15 years or 150,000 miles. The warranty will pay for the repair or replacement of the seat belt if it fails to function properly during this time. The warranty does not, however, cover issues like appearance or comfort. If you need a replacement, the warranty covers all parts and labor.
Are Honda Accessories Covered?
Accessories you purchase for your Honda CR-V are covered so long as you purchase them at a Honda dealership. The accessories do not have to be installed by a Honda dealership, but they are covered for only one year after purchase. Honda-installed parts can be included as part of your new vehicle warranty, but if the warranty has less than a year remaining, the accessories receive a standard one-year warranty.
What Constitutes Proper Operation?
Proper operation, or normal operating conditions, is a requirement to maintain your warranty benefits in most cases. This means you are required to keep your vehicle up-to-date with a regular schedule of maintenance, and to observe recommended limits for loads, braking, engine strain, and other operations.
You now have a strong overview of the warranty coverage for your 2014 Honda CR-V. Next, it’s time to take control of keeping up with your automotive maintenance.
