Factory Warranty
2018 Honda HR-V Basic Warranty
The 2018 Honda HR-V had a three-year or 36,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty, sometimes called a Basic Warranty or Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty. This warranty has now expired for your 2018 Honda HR-V. When the Basic Warranty was valid, it covered most major parts or repairs due to defects in materials or poor workmanship, but it did not cover wear items (such as brakes or wiper blades) or maintenance items.
2018 Honda HR-V Powertrain Warranty
The 2018 Honda HR-V has a five-year or 60,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty that is still valid for your 2018 HR-V through 2023. Coverage for this important warranty includes repairs and replacement parts for the transmission, front-wheel-drive system, and engine. In addition, the Powertrain Limited Warranty covers components of the 2018 HR-V’s transaxle through 2023.
Corrosion Perforation Warranty
The 2018 Honda HR-V did originally come with a Rust Perforation Limited Warranty which covered rust damage from the inside out, called corrosion perforation, on the body panels for five years with unlimited mileage. This warranty is valid for your 2018 Honda HR-V through 2023. Honda will only honor this warranty if the original owner or lessee of the 2018 HR-V makes the claim. If you find rust on the underbody of your Honda caused by salt, sand, or mud, the Rust Perforation Limited Warranty does not cover repairs or replacement of the body panels.
Air Conditioning Warranty
The 2018 Honda HR-V factory warranty included an air conditioning warranty, which was covered for either three years or 36,000 miles under the Federal Emissions Warranty or three years or 50,000 miles under the California Emissions Warranty, depending on where your car was sold. This warranty is now expired.
In addition to this coverage, the air conditioning refrigerant was covered separately under the Basic Warranty for two years or 24,000 miles, unless refrigerant was required as part of a warranty repair. This limited warranty is now expired, too.
Paint Warranty
The 2018 Honda HR-V did not come with a specific paint warranty. Honda would have covered the cost of repairs for paint damage due to defects in the paint material or because of poor workmanship under your original factory warranty of three years or 36,000 miles. However, that warranty has expired.
Battery Warranty
The original equipment battery that came with the 2018 Honda HR-V was covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty for three years or 36,000 miles. This has expired.
Tire Warranty
The 2018 Honda HR-V has no warranty from Honda for tires. Instead, the original tire manufacturer has their own specific warranty. Your Honda dealership can help you contact the tire manufacturer. You can also find this information in the tire booklet found in the glove box.
Emissions Warranty
The 2018 Honda HR-V had a three-year or 36,000-mile Federal Emissions Warranty that has expired. California Emissions Warranty covered emissions repairs for three years or 50,000 miles, and this warranty has also expired. When it was valid, the Federal Emissions Warranty covered repairs and replacement parts for important systems including the active grill shutter, transmission control system, as well as the evaporative and refueling emissions control systems.
Even though the Federal Emissions Warranty for your 2018 HR-V has expired, you’ll still have the manufacturer’s coverage for the catalytic converter, engine computer, and onboard diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles under the Clean Air Act’s standards.

What's the Best Way to Find Out What My Valid Warranties Cover?
Reading your downloaded warranty booklet will let you know the details of what Honda will still cover. Or, contact your local Honda dealership with information such as the year, make, trim, and vehicle identification number (VIN). With this information, the dealership can look up the specific details of your 2018 HR-V warranties.
Does My 2018 Honda HR-V Have a Warranty for Any Accessories?
Your 2018 HR-V did have a three-year or 36,000-mile Accessory Limited Warranty that has expired. What Else Is Covered Under the Limited Warranty Coverage?
When you had coverage for your 2018 Honda HR-V under the three-year or 36,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty, you also had a couple of other short Limited Warranty coverages. One of the coverages included wheel balancing and wheel alignment for one year or 12,000 miles starting on the date of your factory warranty. In addition, you would have had coverage for the replacement of the wiper blades for the first six months of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. However, the Limited Warranty and coverage have expired.
Whether you have extended warranty coverage through Honda Care or a third-party source, make sure you always have the best auto insurance for your 2018 Honda HR-V including comprehensive coverage.
