Every 2012 Honda Accord came with a basic three-year, 36,000-mile Manufacturer’s Warranty, also called the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, which started on the date of the car was first purchased or leased.

This warranty is now expired. Basic Manufacturer’s Warranties cover replacements and repairs of parts that become defective under the typical use of the vehicle. Window glass damage and common wear and tear issues are excluded.

2012 Honda Accord Powertrain Warranty

The 2012 Honda Accord had a Powertrain Warranty that was good for up to five years or 60,000 miles. This warranty covered the powertrain parts, including the engine, transmission, front- and rear-wheel-drive systems, and the transaxle This warranty is expired.

Air Conditioning Warranty

The 2012 Honda Accord doesn’t have Air Conditioning Warranty coverage, however, charging the A/C was covered for the first year. If your 2012 Accord was delivered with a faulty air conditioning system, you should have notified the dealership to handle the problem.

Paint Warranty

Your 2012 Honda Accord warranty doesn’t cover paint issues or damage. If your 2012 Accord was delivered with paint damage, you could have notified the dealership to resolve the problem.

Replacement Battery Limited Warranty

The 2012 Honda Accord Replacement Battery Limited Warranty covered the vehicle’s battery for up to 100 months, or eight years and four months, which is now expired. Owners would receive a free replacement battery with installation service included for the first 36 months of ownership. The following 64 months offered a prorated battery credit depending on the lenght of time it’s been since it was purchased.

Tire Warranty

Honda doesn’t provide any type of tire warranty. The tires on your 2012 Accord are warranted by their manufacturer. If you need help to find out about your tire warranty, contact your dealership for help. Your Honda dealership may offer a Road Hazard Tire and Wheel Protection Plan which can cover tires.

Federal Emissions Warranty

Every 2012 Honda Accord came with a Federal Emissions Warranty that covered the Accord’s emissions system for either three years or 36,000 miles, or up to 50,000 miles in select states, whichever comes first. This warranty requires owners to follow their maintenance schedule to maintain coverage.

The Clean Air Act also requires Honda to repair or replace the engine computer, onboard diagnostic system, and catalytic converter for up to eight years or 80,000 miles. If your 2012 Accord failed an emissions test approved by the EPA during this time, Honda would have helped to get your vehicle compliant free of charge.

2012 Honda Accord Extended Warranty Available Upon Purchase

A Honda Care plan would have been available for a 2012 Honda Accord when it was first purchased before the Factory Warranty expired. This warranty would have covered the replacement or repair of parts like the transmission, engine, electronics, and air conditioning.

This coverage was good for as long as  eight years or 120,000 miles. Extended warranties purchased on the new 2012 Honda Accord would have transferred to any subsequent owners of the vehicle . Your local Honda dealership can look up the VIN and current mileage on your vehicle to find out whether it has any extended warranties still running.

FAQs

Find answers to frequently asked questions about the Honda Accord warranty below:

Does Honda Have a 100,000-mile Warranty?

Honda’s powertrain coverage can last up to 100,000 miles on certified vehicles that have been owned for fewer than 12 months or driven fewer than 12,000 miles. However, new Honda models come with a Powertrain Warranty that lasts up to 60,000 miles or five years.

Do Honda Warranties Transfer to a Vehicle’s Subsequent Owners?

Honda factory warranties are transferable as long as ownership is transferred during the original warranty coverage period. If you buy a Honda that is less than three years old and has fewer than 36,000 miles on it, it will still be under Factory Warranty coverage.

What Voids Honda Factory Warranty Coverage?

If an owner misuses their Honda vehicle by racing, overloading, or driving off-road, the Factory Warranty coverage does not apply to any damages even if they weren’t directly related to the misuse. Tampering with the odometer also voids a Honda Factory Warranty.

The 2012 Honda Accord warranty coverage provides help with expenses for various types of issues with your Honda vehicle. Coverage has expired for many of the aspects of the standard warranty, but there are additional resources to offer help and protection.

If your Factory Warranty has expired and you’re looking to reduce out-of-pocket expenses, be sure to check out the CARCHEX+FIXD Vehicle Protection Plan.
