All About Your 2014 Honda Civic Warranty

The 2014 Honda Civic features several warranty protections you can take advantage of to save money while keeping your car in good shape. Before you can enjoy the benefits, however, you’ll need to understand what the warranties cover. Do they extend to the paint, emissions, tires, and other parts of the vehicle that the basic and powertrain warranties don’t cover? Discover what the 2014 Honda Civic warranty covers and check out answers to some of the most common warranty questions below.

The longest manufacturer warranty coverage available for the 2014 Civic is the 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which means that all factory warranty coverage has expired on this car. Check your 2013 Honda Civic Warranty Handbook for exact warranty information. It is still possible that your extended warranty is still in effect, or you can purchase a new extended warranty or service contract.

Recalls are different from warranties, and they must be performed by a dealership even if the vehicle is out of warranty. Visit NHTSA.gov/recalls to search for recall information on any car using the 17-digit VIN or year/make/model data.

Upon purchase, you have the option to add an extended warranty for the 2014 Civic, though its details vary depending on the dealership and vehicle source. In most cases, however, an extended warranty runs around eight years or 120,000 miles, depending on which comes first.

2014 Honda Civic Powertrain Warranty

The powertrain warranty for the 2014 Honda Civic offers coverage for five years or 60,000 miles, depending on which comes first. It includes repair costs for the engine, transmission, transaxle, and drivetrain system, regardless of whether your Civic has front-wheel or rear-wheel drive.

Air Conditioning Warranty

With the 2014 Civic, you can enjoy air conditioner refrigerant coverage for two years or 24,000 miles after the initial purchase. The emissions warranty also includes coverage for the air conditioning system for three years or 36,000 miles, with the refrigerant being the only exception.

Paint Warranty

The paint warranty on the 2014 Civic is limited to the rust perforation limited warranty that is only available to the original buyer for five years. Even then, the warranty only covers certain body panels, and paint damage caused by abuse, road hazards, or negligence doesn’t qualify.

Battery Warranty

The original battery in the 2014 Civic is covered for three years or 36,000 miles as a part of the new vehicle limited warranty. Replacement batteries are also covered for 100 months if you get them from a Honda dealer. The percentage of coverage, however, decreases over time.

Tire Warranty

The tires on the 2014 Civic are warrantied by the tire manufacturer separately from the rest of the vehicle. Tire companies such as Continental, Goodyear, Yokohama, and Michelin have their own warranty policies, so contact them directly to learn more.

Emissions Warranty

The 2014 Civic features warranties for both federal emissions standards (3 years/36,000 miles) and California emissions standards (3 years/50,000 miles), allowing you to repair vital emissions systems at no cost if the part failed because of defects, not your own negligence.

FAQs

Drivers ask common questions about the 2014 Honda Civic warranty, and we’re happy to provide quick answers to the most frequent queries:

Several systems contribute to vehicle emissions, and Honda’s warranty covers most of them, including the crankcase control, exhaust, ignition, fuel injection, intake air, valve control, exhaust gas recirculation, and evaporative and refueling emissions control.

Emissions coverage does not depend on proper maintenance, but it does depend on the emissions problem being from a manufacturer defect. If the fault resulted from your own negligence, the warranty won’t cover the repair. It will cover the repair if the fault is a defect.

The seat belt warranty lasts 15 years or 150,000 miles, depending on which comes first. This warranty only covers the functionality of the seat belt rather than any aspect of its comfort or appearance. If you qualify, the warranty covers all parts and labor associated with the repair.

The accessory limited warranty covers parts not installed by Honda, but only for a year. Honda-installed parts might be included as part of the new vehicle limited warranty, but coverage defaults to a year if the new vehicle warranty has less than a year remaining. All accessories must be bought from Honda.

Proper operation of your Civic is a requirement for many warranty benefits, requiring you to get regular maintenance and not exceed vehicle limitations on load limit, engine strain, and braking. This is the best way to make your vehicle last.
