Factory Warranty

2015 Honda Civic Basic Warranty

Your 2015 Honda Civic came with a New Vehicle Limited Warranty that covered the vehicle for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This has now expired.

Under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, Honda would replace any Civic part that was defective due to faulty materials or workmanship. Replaced or repaired parts were free of charge for the duration of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. This warranty did not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Cleaning or polishing
  • Adding fluid, unless it’s necessary for a covered repair
  • Broken, chipped, or scratched window glass, unless it’s due to manufacturing defects
  • Cosmetic flaws
  • Expendable maintenance items (filters, brake pads, etc.)

The New Vehicle Limited Warranty also covered the following items for a limited time:

  • Key fob and remote batteries for the first six months of ownership
  • Wiper blade inserts for the first six months of ownership
  • Wheel balancing and alignment for the first year or 12,000 miles
  • Air conditioner refrigerant for the first two years or 24,000 miles

2015 Honda Civic Powertrain Warranty

The 2015 Civic came with a limited powertrain warranty that started on the same date as the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The powertrain warranty was good for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever came first. This has now expired.

Under the powertrain warranty, Honda would repair or replace the following parts if they’re defective due to faulty material or manufacturing:

  • Engine (cylinder head and all internal parts)
  • Transmission and transaxle (case, all internal parts, torque converter)
  • Front-wheel-drive system (final drive housing, all internal parts, driveshafts)

Like the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, the powertrain warranty did not cover repairs needed due to normal wear and tear.

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

The rust perforation limited warranty was valid for five years with no mileage limit. Honda will repair or replace original body panels that rust completely through from the inside out. The warranty did not cover:

  • Surface rust
  • Rusted body parts that were repaired or replaced after purchase
  • Rust due to abuse or lack of maintenance
  • Rust due to debris damaging the paint
  • Rust resulting from immersion in water, mud, or sand
  • Paint matching for the entire vehicle

Air Conditioning Warranty

There is no separate air conditioner warranty, but Honda’s New Vehicle Warranty covered air conditioning refrigerant for the first two years of ownership or 24,000 miles. This has now expired.

Paint Warranty

There was no separate paint warranty. Honda’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty, which has now expired, only covered defects in material and workmanship from the factory. It did not cover cosmetic flaws or other damage that occurred after it left the factory.

Battery Warranty

The 2015 Honda Civic came with a replacement battery limited warranty that covers batteries purchased from a Honda dealership. Replacement batteries are covered for eight years and four months with unlimited miles. For the first three years of the warranty, Honda replaced your Civic’s battery free of charge. After the first three years, Honda will issue a pro-rated credit toward the purchase of the replacement battery. The replacement battery is covered for the remainder of the original warranty.

Emissions Warranty

Your Civic came with a federal emissions warranty that lasted for three years or 36,000 miles. This has now expired. Additionally, the Clean Air Act requires manufacturers to cover the catalytic converter, engine computer, and onboard diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles. These should still be covered if your Civic has less than 80,000 miles.

The federal emissions warranty covered the following emissions systems:

  •  Catalytic converter
  •  Engine computer
  •  On-board diagnostics system
  • Crankcase control system
  • Evaporative and refueling emissions control systems
  • Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system
  • Exhaust system
  • Ignition system
  • Fuel injection system
  • Transmission control system
  • Intake air system
  • Valve control system
  • Hybrid system (includes IMA)

FAQs

As of 2022, all of the 2015 Honda Civic’s warranties from the factory have expired, except for the remainder of the replacement battery warranty.

To find out about any extended warranties you may have on your vehicle, contact your local Honda dealership and provide them with your car’s VIN and current mileage.

The remaining balance of your original warranty and any Honda Care extended warranty is transferable to a new owner. If you’re trading in your Honda Civic, the dealership will handle the warranty transfer. If you’re selling your Civic privately, you’ll need to contact Honda Care Contract Services to transfer your contracts. You should also notify the American Honda Warranty Department of any changes in ownership.

The easiest way to file a warranty claim is to contact your local Honda dealership.

If your factory warranty has expired and you’re looking to reduce out-of-pocket expenses, be sure to check out the CARCHEX+FIXD Vehicle Protection Plan. And remember, the best way to ensure warranty coverage (and prevent costly repairs in the first place) is to follow your manufacturer-recommended maintenance schedule.
