Find Out What Your 2015 Honda CR-V Warranty Covered — And What It Still Does

Your 2015 Honda CR-V came with a Manufacturer’s Warranty, also called a Factory Warranty. If you’re having issues with your vehicle, you may wonder whether it’s still protected. With this guide, we’ll help you figure out what coverage you still have access to — if any.

2015 Honda CR-V Factory Warranty Coverage:
Basic Warranty:3 years or 36,000 miles
Powertrain Warranty:5 years or 60,000 miles
Corrosion Perforation Warranty:5 years with no mileage limits
Air Conditioning Warranty:3 years or 36,000 miles
Battery Warranty:3 years or 36,000 miles (full replacement)
84 months (prorated)
Tire Warranty:See original manufacturer
Emissions Warranty:3 years or 36,000 miles (50,000 miles in California)
Total Unique Recalls:2

You’ll also learn which coverages have expired and the answers to some common questions Honda owners asked us in our FAQ section. Let’s review what your 2015 Honda CR-V warranty covered — and what it didn’t.

Factory Warranty

2015 Honda CR-V Basic Warranty

Under Honda’s Basic Warranty, also called the New Vehicle Limited Warranty or Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty, the manufacturer would have repaired or replaced any defective part on your 2015 CR-V for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever came first, free of charge. This coverage is expired.

This warranty also covered the following components:

  • Wiper blade inserts (six months)
  • Key fob and remote batteries (six months)
  • Wheel balancing and wheel alignment (one year or 12,000 miles)

Not everything on your crossover was covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, either because it had its own protection or Honda doesn’t pay for those charges, including:

  • Normal wear or deterioration of any part
  • Cleaning and polishing
  • The adding of any fluids (unless part of a warranty repair)
  • Broken, chipped, or scratched window glass (unless defective)
  • Cosmetic flaws or minor damage to the body or paint
  • Expendable maintenance items (like air filters and brake pads)

2015 Honda CR-V Powertrain Warranty

Your 2015 CR-V’s powertrain was protected for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever came first. Honda would have repaired or replaced any part deemed defective during everyday use free of charge, and some powertrain parts may have had additional coverages. This coverage has expired.

This warranty specifically covered the following components:

  • Engine
  • Transmission and transaxle
  • Front-wheel-drive system
  • Rear-wheel-drive system

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

The Corrosion or Rust Perforation Limited Warranty protected your 2015 Honda CR-V for five years with no mileage limits. However, you couldn’t transfer the coverage to an insurance company or another person because only the vehicle owner could claim this warranty. It’s now expired.

Honda’s corrosion protection policy began with the New Vehicle Limited Warranty and covered body panels that were perforated by rust from the inside out. The manufacturer also repaired previously serviced panels for any remaining term of the original five-year time frame. This warranty had many exclusions, including:

  • Surface rust on the underbody
  • Corrosion on repaired body panels (unless repaired or replaced under warranty)
  • Rust caused by abuse, misuse, or lack of maintenance
  • Rust caused by road hazards
  • Rust caused by immersion in water, mud, sand, or resulting corrosive materials
  • Paint matching

Air Conditioning Warranty

Fresh air. Car conditioning.

Your 2015 Honda CR-V’s air conditioning system was covered for three years or 36,000 miles (or 50,000 miles in California Emissions states), but coverage is now expired. Refrigerant was limited to two years or 24,000 miles unless it was required as part of another warrantied repair.

Paint Warranty

Dent car scratch close-up. Crashed car in accident

The 2015 Honda CR-V did not come with a paint warranty, nor did the Factory Warranty cover the paint or paint matching on the vehicle. The Rust Perforation Limited Warranty also did not cover any rust caused by paint damage due to road debris.

Battery Warranty

Batteries for a 2015 Honda CR-V are partly protected for eight years and four months under the Replacement Battery Limited Warranty. During the first three years, Honda would have replaced a defective battery at no cost to you, including parts, labor, and installation, regardless of mileage.

However, the coverage amount declines during the remaining 64 months, and you only receive a credit toward the purchase price of a replacement battery from an authorized Honda dealer. You’ll also have to pay for any installation and labor costs. This credit is as follows:

  • Months 37 to 45: 60% off
  • Months 46 to 55: 50% off
  • Months 56 to 65: 40% off
  • Months 66 to 75: 30% off
  • Months 76 to 85: 20% off
  • Months 86 to 95: 10% off
  • Months 96 to 100: 5% off

Tire Warranty

The original tires that came on your 2015 Honda were warrantied by their manufacturer. If you believe your tires are still covered, contact your local dealership for assistance.

In 2015, Honda used the following tire manufacturers to equip the CR-V crossover SUV:

  • Yokohama
  • Michelin
  • Goodyear/Dunlap
  • Continental
  • Bridgestone/Firestone

Emissions Warranty

Honda’s Federal Emissions Warranty covered your 2015 CR-V for a minimum of three years or 36,000 miles, or 50,000 miles in select states. It protected the components that make up your vehicle’s emissions system, including the exhaust, ignition, and fuel injection parts. This warranty is expired.

Honda’s Federal Emissions Warranty covered the following components in addition to the exhaust, ignition, and fuel injection systems:

  • Crankcase control system
  • Exhaust gas recirculation system
  • Evaporative and refueling emissions control system
  • Intake air system
  • Onboard diagnostics system
  • Air conditioning system
  • Transmission control system
  • Secondary air injection system
  • Valve control system

However, the Clean Air Act requires Honda to cover the engine computer, catalytic converter, and onboard diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles, and this coverage may still be in effect for certain parts. Additionally, if you live in a state with stringent emission regulations and your vehicle fails a smog check, you may be protected for as long as seven years or 70,000 miles, whichever comes first. These states include:

  • California
  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Maine
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • New Jersey
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont
  • Washington

To qualify for coverage under the emissions warranties, you must keep your vehicle in peak working condition and maintain service according to the specifications in the warranty manual. If your vehicle fails an EPA-approved test, take your 2015 CR-V and a copy of the report to an authorized Honda dealer. This warranty covers repairs, parts, labor, and diagnosis at no charge.
