What You Need to Know About Your 2017 Honda Accord Warranty
Every new Honda vehicle, including the 2017 Honda Accord, comes with a Factory Warranty, also known as a Manufacturer’s Warranty. We’ve created this guide to help you determine whether your vehicle is still under warranty and if your coverage includes items such as tires, batteries, and paint. We’ve also included information about available extensions.
Please note the duration for each warranty is listed in years and miles, whichever comes first. For example, a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty will expire in three years or if you hit 36,000 miles in less than three years. The following is a snapshot of warranties provided by Honda:
2017 Honda Accord Factory Warranty Coverage | |
Basic Warranty | 3 years or 36,000 miles |
Powertrain Warranty | 5 years or 60,000 miles |
Corrosion Perforation Warranty | 5 years and unlimited miles |
Air Conditioning Warranty | 2 years or 24,000 miles |

Factory Warranty
2017 Honda Accord Basic Warranty
The 2017 Honda Accord came with a three-year, 36,000-mile Basic Warranty that started on the car’s original delivery date whether by purchase or lease. As of 2022, this warranty has expired. This warranty covered repairs and replacements for parts that were defective under normal use. Exclusions included everyday wear and tear, maintenance items, and most window glass damage.
2017 Honda Accord Powertrain Warranty
The 2017 Honda Accord came with a five-year, 60,000-mile Powertrain Warranty that covered the engine, transmission, transaxle, front-wheel-drive system, and all-wheel-drive system. As of 2022, this warranty is about to expire or already has.
Corrosion Perforation Warranty
The 2017 Honda Accord came with a five-year unlimited mileage Corrosion Perforation Warranty that covered any body panels rusted from the inside out. As of 2022, this warranty is about to expire or already has. If you’re the car’s original owner, contact your local Honda dealer to see if you can still take advantage of this warranty.
Air Conditioning Warranty
The 2017 Honda Accord’s Basic Warranty covered air conditioner refrigerant for two years or 24,000 miles. As of 2022, this coverage has expired.
Paint Warranty
The 2017 Honda Accord’s Manufacturer’s Warranty did not cover paint. The Corrosion Perforation Warranty does not cover paint matching or rust due to paint damage from road debris.
Battery Warranty
The 2017 Honda Accord has a Replacement Battery Warranty that covered the cost of the 12-volt battery for the first three years or 36,000 miles. For the remaining 64 months, Honda will replace this battery at a prorated cost applying a credit of 5% to 60% for batteries purchased and installed at a Honda dealership.
The 2017 Honda Accord’s battery limited warranty does not apply to the high-voltage traction battery, which is covered under the Hybrid System Warranty that is good for eight years or 100,000 miles.
Tire Warranty
Honda does not provide warranty coverage for the 2017 Honda Accord’s tires. The tires that came as original equipment on your Accord are warrantied by their manufacturer in a separate warranty statement provided by the dealership.
Emissions Warranty
The 2017 Honda Accord came with a three-year, 36,000-mile Federal Emissions Warranty covering the repair and replacement of emissions system components defective under normal use. As of 2022, this warranty has expired.
The Clean Air Act, however, requires manufacturers to cover the catalytic converter, engine computer, and on-board diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles.
2017 Honda Accord Warranty Extensions Available Upon Car Purchase
A Honda Care plan for a new 2017 Honda Accord was available from Honda dealerships if purchased before the original factory warranty expired. This warranty extension covered repairs and replacements of parts, including the engine, electrical systems, and transmission, for up to eight years or 120,000 miles.
Honda Care plans are transferrable to subsequent owners, and your plan might still be in effect. Contact your local Honda dealer, provide your VIN and mileage, and they can let you know if your warranty extension is valid.
2017 Honda Accord Extended Warranty Available Now
Because the original Manufacturer’s Warranty has expired, you can no longer purchase a Honda Care plan for your 2017 Honda Accord. However, several third-party providers offer warranty extensions.
