2017 Honda CR-V Factory Warranty
2017 Honda CR-V Basic Warranty
Your standard 2017 Honda CR-V basic warranty covered your vehicle for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever came first. The basic warranty coverage for the 2017 Honda CR-V has expired. During your warranty period, Honda covered any parts and labor that broke during proper usage. If you are unsure whether your warranty is still in effect, your Honda dealership can give you specifics.
2017 Honda CR-V Powertrain Warranty
The standard powertrain warranty coverage for the 2017 Honda CR-V lasts five years or 60,000 miles. You may still have some coverage left if you purchased your vehicle new. It covers your entire powertrain from the engine through the drivetrain, transaxle, and some other parts. Honda will cover the costs of parts and labor if the parts fail due to a defect under proper operation. Your dealership can give you specifics.
In 2019, Honda announced that it was extending the powertrain warranty on certain 2017-18 CR-Vs equipped with the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine due to a rare issue where gasoline could mix with the engine oil. More than one million CR-Vs (and Civics) were affected by this issue, which Honda says was a rare occurrence, that could cause the engine to stall, and the powertrain warranty has been extended by one year with no mileage limits.
Corrosion Perforation Warranty
Honda offers five years of rust perforation coverage on new vehicles. This protection is only available to the original purchaser of the vehicle but has no mileage limit. If you have any body panels which rust from the inside out, even if it has been previously replaced, Honda replaces the part free of charge. You may still have limited coverage available if you were the original purchaser. Check with your dealership for more information.
Air Conditioning Warranty
Honda offered new 2017 CR-V vehicles two years or 24,000 miles of coverage for air conditioner refrigerant. In addition, the AC system’s parts were covered as part of the emissions warranty, which lasted for three years or 36,000 miles or three years 50,000 miles in states recognizing California emissions regulations.
Paint Warranty
Honda does not offer any warranty coverage specific to the paint jobs of the 2017 CR-V. The only paint protection available was included in the rust perforation warranty. That was specific to individual body panels. Any paint issues you may have, you must pay for on your own.
Battery Warranty
The original battery on the CR-V was warranted by Honda for up to three years or 36,000 miles. If you had the battery replaced and secured your battery from Honda, it would be covered for up to 100 months, with the specific amount of coverage prorated based on the length of time you own the battery. Coverage extends to parts and labor.
Tire Warranty
Honda does not offer factory vehicle warranty coverage on tires. The original tires on your vehicle, however, were likely protected by the manufacturer of the tires. Many tire makers offer warranty protection on their tires. If you are not certain whether your tires have coverage, contact the manufacturer or check with your dealership regarding who to contact.
Emissions Warranty
Emissions systems are covered under federal law. In the case of your 2017 Honda CR-V, you had coverage for up to three years or 36,000 miles after purchase, whichever came first. Those living in California received expanded emissions coverage for up to 50,000 miles or three years. Under the Clean Air Act, the dealer must offer warranty coverage for your onboard diagnostics, engine computer, and catalytic converter for eight years, or 80,000 miles. You should still have this federal coverage available.
