Factory Warranty
2020 Honda Accord Basic Warranty
The 2020 Honda Accord comes with a three-year, 36,000-mile Manufacturer’s Warranty, also called the New Vehicle Limited Warranty or Basic Warranty. The warranty date began on the date of vehicle delivery or leasing. This warranty covers free repairs and replacements for parts that are defective during normal vehicle use. Normal wear and tear is excluded.
This New Vehicle Limited Warranty also covered key fobs and remotes for six months. It covered wiper blades for six months and wheel alignment for the first year or 12,000 miles. As of 2022, this portion of the Basic Warranty has expired.
2020 Honda Accord Powertrain Warranty
The 2020 Honda Accord has a five-year, 60,000-mile Powertrain Warranty. This warranty covers components of the powertrain, including the engine, transmission, and front-wheel-drive system. Within the engine itself, Honda will cover defective cylinder blocks, valve trains, oil pumps, fuel injectors, and more.
Corrosion Perforation Warranty
The 2020 Honda Accord comes with a five-year Rust or Corrosion Perforation Warranty with unlimited miles. This warranty covers the repair and replacement of body panels rusted completely from the inside out for the vehicle’s original owner.
This warranty does not cover paint matching, surface rust on other parts of the vehicle, rust caused by abuse or lack of maintenance, or rust caused by water immersion.
Air Conditioning Warranty
Honda does not provide a specific Air Conditioning Warranty, but the New Vehicle Limited Warranty covers air conditioner refrigerant for two years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first. Some components of the air conditioner may also be covered as part of the Emissions Warranty.
Paint Warranty
The 2020 Honda Accord Basic Warranty doesn’t cover most paint-related issues. Vehicle owners who notice flaws or defects in the paint upon delivery should contact the dealer immediately. While the Rust Perforation Warranty may cover rusted body panels, it does not guarantee paint matching.
Battery Warranty
Honda’s Factory Warranty covers the 12-volt battery under the Basic Warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles. Hybrid models include a high-voltage hybrid battery, which is covered by a High Voltage Battery Capacity Warranty of 8 years or 100,000 miles.
Hybrid batteries normally degrade slightly over time with use, so just because you experience a loss in range does not mean this warranty will cover a replacement. It is up to your Honda dealer to determine if your high-voltage battery has degraded faster than normal and qualifies for a replacement.
Tire Warranty
No tire warranty is included in the 2020 Honda Accord coverage. However, the tires may come with coverage from the manufacturer of the tires. Vehicle owners can contact the tire manufacturer to learn more about this coverage.
Emissions Warranty
The 2020 Honda Accord Federal Emissions Warranty covers the vehicle’s emissions systems for three years or 36,000 miles. If a vehicle fails an EPA-approved emissions test during this time period, Honda will provide a free repair to help it comply.
Honda will not decline repairs or replacements for vehicles without general maintenance during this time, but the warranty may be void for vehicles with unapproved modifications or that have been abused. According to the Clean Air Act, Honda must also cover the onboard diagnostic system, engine computer, and catalytic converter for eight years or 80,000 miles.

2020 Honda Accord Warranty Extensions Available Upon Car Purchase
Drivers who purchased a new 2020 Honda Accord had access to a Honda Care plan from the dealership. This extended warranty is valid after the basic warranty expires. This extended warranty through Honda Care would cover the engine, axles, air conditioning, transmission, and other components for up to eight years or 120,000 miles. This warranty can transfer to a new owner. If you’re uncertain if your vehicle has an extended warranty, contact a Honda dealer.
