2020 Honda Fit Warranty Guide

The 2020 Honda Fit’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty lasts for three years or 36,000 miles. It’s likely this factory warranty has time or miles remaining. Other warranties, like the Powertrain Warranty, are still in effect unless you’ve exceeded the mileage limit.

2020 Honda Fit Basic Warranty

The 2020 Honda Fit New Vehicle Limited Warranty started on the day the first owner took ownership of the vehicle. It’s good for three years or 36,000 miles, so as long as you haven’t hit the 36,000-mile mark, you still have coverage. 

This warranty will pay to repair or replace any parts that are defective due to poor workmanship or low-quality materials. The following repairs are excluded under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty:

• Repairing window glass that’s chipped, scratched, or broken
• Cleaning or polishing any part of the vehicle
• Adding fluids that aren’t part of another repair
• Replacing expendable items like brake pads, filters, and spark plugs

2020 Honda Fit Powertrain Warranty

On the same day that your New Vehicle Limited Warranty started, your 2020 Honda Fit Powertrain Limited Warranty went into effect. This coverage is good for five years or 60,000 miles. You still have coverage under this warranty if you haven’t exceeded 60,000 miles.

It will pay for repairs to your engine, transmission, transaxle, and drive system. Parts this warranty may cover on your Fit include

• Cylinder block and head and all internal parts
• Oil pan and pump
• Flywheel
• Water and fuel pump
• Torque converter
• Driveshafts
• Front hubs and bearings
• Seals and gaskets

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

For five years with no mileage cap, the original owner can take advantage of the Rust Perforation Limited Warranty for your 2020 Honda Fit. This coverage does not transfer to a different owner. It pays to replace or repair original panels that rust through entirely. 

This warranty won’t cover rusted underbody panels or rust on any part of the vehicle other than the body panels. It also doesn’t pay to replace panels if they rust from

• Immersion in water
• Immersion in sand
• Immersion in mud
• Road debris damage
• Road hazards
• Abuse
• Misuse
• Corrosive gas
• Industrial fallout
• Lack of maintenance

Air Conditioning Warranty

Your air conditioning system has coverage under the Federal Emissions Warranty. This warranty provides coverage for three years or 36,000 miles and is still in effect as long as your 2020 Honda Fit has less than 36,000 miles. 

Recharging the coolant was covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty for two years or 24,000 miles. This portion of the coverage is expired for most 2020 Honda Fits.

Paint Warranty

Any damage you noticed on the body or paint job on your 2020 Honda Fit needed to be brought to the attention of the dealer right away. Honda doesn’t provide a warranty for the paint job or anything related to the appearance of its vehicles.

Battery Warranty

Using the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, you can make a claim for the 12-volt battery of your 2020 Honda Fit if it fails. The Basic Warranty will pay to replace the battery, including any installation or labor fees.

Replacement Battery Warranty

If you had a replacement battery put in your 2020 Honda Fit, the new battery comes with a Replacement 12-Volt Battery Limited Warranty that covers it for 100 months, or eight years and four months. 

During the first three years of this warranty, you’ll have full coverage on replacing, installing, and labor fees for the battery. In the last 64 months, the warranty only pays a portion of the battery replacement cost, and it won’t cover labor and installation fees. Use this chart to determine how much you’ll have to pay for the new battery:

• Months 37 to 45: 60% coverage
• Months 46 to 55: 50% coverage
• Months 56 to 65: 40% coverage
• Months 66 to 75: 30% coverage
• Months 76 to 85: 20% coverage
• Months 86 to 95: 10% coverage
• Months 96 to100: 5% coverage

Tire Warranty

Honda doesn’t cover the tires for your 2020 Honda Fit under warranty. The manufacturer provides a separate Tire Warranty. You can find a warranty statement for your tires on the Honda website. 

With the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, you could have your wheels balanced and aligned for the first year or 12,000 miles, but this portion of the coverage is now expired.

Emissions Warranty

The 2020 Honda Fit has a Federal Emissions Warranty that covers the system’s components for three years or 36,000 miles. This warranty started on the day you took delivery of your vehicle and is still valid if haven’t exceeded 36,000 miles.

In California and select states, emissions systems are under warranty for three years or 50,000 miles, and some parts have coverage for seven years or 70,000 miles.

Because of the Clean Air Act, you may have coverage for some components, such as the catalytic converter, for eight years or 80,000 miles. These are some of the major components that the Federal Emissions Warranty encompasses:

• Exhaust system
• Ignition system
• Intake air system
• OBD system
• Transmission control system
• Active grille shutter
