Factory Warranty

2020 Honda Passport Basic Warranty

Under Honda’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty, the manufacturer will repair or replace any defective part on your 2020 Passport for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. There is no charge for this service.

This warranty starts on the day you took delivery of the vehicle, and it also covers the following original components:

• Wiper blade inserts (six months)
• Key fob or remote batteries (six months)
• Wheel balancing (one year or 12,000 miles)
• Wheel alignment (one year or 12,000 miles)
• Air conditioning refrigerant (two years or 24,000 miles)

Not every component on your 2020 Passport is protected under this New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Excluded items and services include:

• Parts that fail due to normal wear and tear
• Cleaning or polishing
• Cosmetic or minor flaws on the body or paint
• Adding fluids (unless part of a covered repair)
• Broken window glass (unless defective)
• Routine maintenance parts or services (such as oil changes and air filters)

2020 Honda Passport Powertrain Warranty

Your 2020 Honda Passport’s powertrain is warrantied for five years or 60,000 miles against defective components with normal use. These repairs are free of charge. Some powertrain components might have had additional coverage. Honda will pay to repair or replace the internal and external parts of your vehicle:

• Engine
• Transmission
• Transaxle
• Front- or all-wheel-drive system (as equipped)

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

Honda’s Rust Perforation Limited Warranty protects your 2020 Honda Passport for five years. There are no mileage limits with this coverage, so it’s still in effect.

Honda’s corrosion protection policy begins with the New Vehicle Limited Warranty and covers body panels perforated by rust from the inside out. It will also repair previously serviced panels up to this warranty’s five-year period. However, this coverage is nontransferable, and only the original vehicle owner can file a claim. This policy also has many exclusions, including paint matching, underbody corrosion, and rust caused by:

• Abuse or misuse
• Lack of maintenance
• Road hazards
• Immersion in corrosive materials such as water, mud, or sand

Air Conditioning Warranty

There is no separate air conditioning warranty, but the Basic Warranty covers your 2020 Passport’s air conditioning system for three years or 36,000 miles. Refrigerant is also covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, but only for the first two years or 24,000 miles unless the service is required as part of another warrantied repair.

Paint Warranty

The 2020 Honda Passport doesn’t come with a separate paint warranty. Only paint issues that occur as a result of a manufacturing error are eligible for coverage, and these are usually handled at vehicle purchase.

Battery Warranty

Honda warranties your 2020 Passport’s 12-volt battery for three years or 36,000 miles under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. As of 2022, this warranty is still in effect.

Tire Warranty

Honda does not warranty your tires. The tire manufacturer provides this coverage, including for the spare. If your SUV is still equipped with its original tires, contact your local dealership for assistance or call the tire manufacturer directly.

Emissions Warranty

Honda’s Federal Emissions Warranty protects your 2020 Passport for three years or 36,000 miles. Additionally, if you live in one of the many states that have adopted California’s stringent emission regulations, are protected for three years or 50,000 miles, with some components covered for seven years or 70,000 miles. These states include:

• California
• Connecticut
• Delaware
• Maine
• Maryland
• Massachusetts
• New Jersey
• New York
• Oregon
• Pennsylvania
• Rhode Island
• Vermont
• Washington

Emissions coverage protects the components that make up your SUV’s smog control systems, including the exhaust, ignition, and fuel injection parts. This warranty also covers the following emissions-related components:

• Intake air system
• Exhaust gas recirculation system
• Evaporative and refueling emissions control system
• Secondary air injection system
• Onboard diagnostics system 
• Transmission control system
• Crankcase control system
• Valve control system

Additionally, the Clean Air Act requires manufacturers to cover the engine computer, catalytic converter, and onboard diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles.
