Factory Warranty
2021 Honda Passport Basic Warranty
Most components of your Passport will be covered by the Basic Warranty, also called the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, for three years or 36,000 miles. Some parts covered by the Basic Warranty might also be covered by additional warranties, while others are warrantied separately.
2021 Honda Passport Powertrain Warranty
The Powertrain Limited Warranty is good for five years or 60,000 miles. It covers several aspects of the powertrain, including the engine, transmission, and drivetrain, as long as the problem is due to a defect and not misuse. It does require you to keep the vehicle in proper operating condition, which means keeping up with maintenance and only engaging in proper operation.
Corrosion Perforation Warranty
The Rust Perforation Limited Warranty covers panels that rust all the way through from the inside for five years without any mileage limits. That means even if you put 100,000 miles on your Passport in four years, you’d still be covered. Replacement panels are only covered for the remainder of the original five-year term.
Air Conditioning Warranty
The air conditioner isn’t covered by its own warranty, but it’s included in the Basic Warranty, which lasts for three years or 36,000 miles. Air conditioning refrigerant is only covered for the first two years or 24,000 miles.
Paint Warranty
Honda does not offer a Paint Warranty. Only paint defects in materials or workmanship from the factory are covered by the Basic Warranty, and must be addressed upon delivery of the new vehicle. It does not include paint matching, even if the mismatched paint is due to a repair that another warranty covers.
Battery Warranty
The 2021 Honda Passport’s original battery is covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. This means that your 12-volt battery is covered for the first three years or 36,000 miles.
Tire Warranty
The tires on your 2021 Passport are warrantied separately by their manufacturer, not by Honda. You must contact the manufacturer directly to get details about your warranty limitations. Your local Honda dealer can point you in the right direction.
Emissions Warranty
Your 2021 Honda Passport is covered under the Federal Emissions Warranty, which lasts for three years or 36,000 miles. If you live in California or certain other states, your coverage extends to 50,000 miles under the California Emissions Warranty, with some parts covered for 7 years or 70,000 miles. Other than California, those states include Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.
Additionally, the Clean Air Act requires all manufacturers to extend the warranty period for catalytic converters, onboard diagnostics, and engine computers to eight years or 80,000 miles.
