Keep in mind that most warranties are in terms of years and mileage, and they expire based on which one occurs first. For example, a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty would expire after three years or if you’ve driven 36,000 miles in less time.

Factory Warranty

2020 Honda Odyssey Basic Warranty

Honda’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty states that the manufacturer will repair or replace any defective part on your 2020 Odyssey for three years or 36,000 miles. There is no charge for this service.

This warranty starts on the day the vehicle was delivered. It also covers the following original components, though this coverage has expired as of 2022:

• Wiper blade inserts (six months)
• Key fob or remote batteries (six months)
• Wheel balancing (one year or 12,000 miles)
• Wheel alignment (one year or 12,000 miles)

Unfortunately, not every component of your 2020 Odyssey is protected under Honda’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty. It may come with a separate warranty or you may be responsible for the costs out of pocket, like parts that fail due to normal wear and tear. Those items also include:

• Cleaning and polishing
• Cosmetic flaws or minor body and paint damage
• Adding fluids (unless part of a warranty repair)
• Broken, chipped, or scratched window glass (unless defective)
• Maintenance parts (like air filters and brake pads)

2020 Honda Odyssey Powertrain Warranty

Your 2020 Odyssey’s powertrain is protected for five years or 60,000 miles under the Powertrain Limited Warranty. Honda will repair or replace, free of charge, any part deemed defective during normal use.

This warranty also starts on the day you drive off the dealership’s lot, and some powertrain components may have had additional coverages. Honda will pay to repair or replace the internal and external parts of your vehicle’s:

• Engine
• Transmission
• Transaxle
• Front-wheel-drive system

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

Honda’s Rust Perforation Limited Warranty protects your 2020 Odyssey for five years with no mileage limit. Honda’s corrosion protection policy starts with the New Vehicle Limited Warranty and covers body panels that are perforated by rust from the inside out.

It will also repair previously serviced panels under this warranty, up to the original five-year time frame. However, you can’t transfer the coverage to an insurance company or another person because only the vehicle owner can file a claim. This warranty also has many exclusions, including paint matching, surface rust on the underbody, and corrosion caused by:

• Abuse or misuse
• Lack of maintenance
• Road hazards
• Immersion in water, mud, sand, or other corrosive material

Air Conditioning Warranty

Your 2020 Odyssey’s air conditioning system is protected for three years or 36,000 miles under the Federal Emissions Warranty. Refrigerant, however, is limited to two years or 24,000 miles under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty unless it needs to be refilled as required by another warrantied repair.

Paint Warranty

Honda does not offer a paint warranty on the 2020 Odyssey. Any issues with the paint that occurred during shipping or post-manufacturing should have been remedied by the dealership before you took delivery of your new minivan. Otherwise, you’ll pay out of pocket for any damage to the paint.

Battery Warranty

Honda’s battery coverage also falls under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, which is still valid for your 2020 Odyssey. This means that your original 12-volt battery is protected for three years or 36,000 miles.

Tire Warranty

The original tires that came on your 2020 Odyssey are not warrantied by Honda. The tire manufacturer provides this coverage, including for the spare.

If you believe your tires are still protected, contact your local dealership for assistance or go straight to the manufacturer to learn more about available tire repairs that may be covered. In 2020, Honda used the following tire companies to equip the Odyssey:

• Michelin
• Goodyear/Dunlop

Emissions Warranty

Honda’s Federal Emissions Warranty covers your 2020 Odyssey for a minimum of three years or 36,000 miles. This coverage extends to 50,000 miles in select states, thanks to the manufacturer’s California Emissions Warranty coverage.

This Emissions Warranty protects the components that make up your minivan’s smog control systems, including the exhaust, ignition, and fuel injection parts. To qualify for coverage under Honda’s Federal Emissions Warranty, you must maintain your vehicle according to the specifications in the warranty manual. However, the company won’t deny your claim solely because you didn’t take care of your vehicle. This warranty also covers the following emissions-related components:

• Crankcase control system
• Exhaust gas recirculation system
• Evaporative and refueling emissions control system
• Intake air system
• Onboard diagnostics system 
• Transmission control system
• Secondary air injection system
• Valve control system

The Clean Air Act requires Honda to cover the engine computer, catalytic converter, and onboard diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles. Additionally, if you live in one of the 13 states with stringent emission regulations and your 2020 Odyssey fails a smog check, some components may be protected for as long as seven years or 70,000 miles under the California Emissions Warranty. Take your vehicle and a copy of the report to an authorized Honda dealer for repair. These states include:

• California
• Connecticut
• Delaware
• Maine
• Maryland
• Massachusetts
• New Jersey
• New York
• Oregon
• Pennsylvania
• Rhode Island
• Vermont
• Washington

Honda will not pay to repair or replace any emissions component with damage that was caused by abuse, misuse, alteration, accident, or the use of nonapproved gasoline. It also doesn’t cover replacement maintenance items, like spark plugs, hoses, coolant, or lubricants.
