Factory Warranty 

2012 Honda CR-V Basic Warranty

New Honda CR-Vs came with a New Vehicle Limited Warranty that covered most components for three years or up to 36,000 miles, whichever came first. This warranty has long been expired for the 2012 Honda CR-V.

This warranty began when you first bought, received or leased the vehicle from a Honda dealership. The New Vehicle Limited Warranty covered the cost of repairing or replacing parts with factory defects. It didn’t cover normal wear from vehicle use on any component or any flaws in the vehicle’s appearance that weren’t due to faulty workmanship.

2012 Honda CR-V Powertrain Warranty

The 2012 Honda CR-V had a Powertrain Warranty that lasted for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever came first. However, this warranty has expired.

The Powertrain Warranty began at the same time as the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The powertrain warranty covered the replacement or repair of components in the engine, transmission, and front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive system that came with your CR-V.

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

The 2012 Honda CR-V had a Rust Perforation Limited Warranty included in the New Vehicle Limited Warranty that lasted five years with no mileage limit. This has since expired.

The coverage also began at the same time as the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. It covered body panels that needed to be replaced due to extensive rusting on the vehicle from the inside out. This warranty didn’t cover rusting on any panel that was caused by a lack of maintenance or paint damage. The Corrosion Perforation Warranty only covered the car’s original owner.

Air Conditioning Warranty

The air conditioning system was covered for one year under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, rather than being covered under a separate warranty. Coverage on the air conditioning unit has expired. 

Paint Warranty

The 2012 Honda CR-V was not covered under a separate paint warranty. The New Vehicle Limited Warranty covered limited instances of paint damage, but this has now expired. 

The New Vehicle Limited Warranty covered paint damage that occurred as a result of manufacturing issues or shipping damage. In these cases, the vehicle dealership typically performed the paint repairs before the vehicle was sold. No paint damage due to misuse or accidents was covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

Battery Warranty

The New Vehicle Limited Warranty covered the original battery that came with the 2012 Honda CR-V for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever the vehicle reached first. This battery warranty has since expired.

Tire Warranty

The tires that came on your 2012 Honda CR-V were covered under a separate warranty by their manufacturer. The warranty covered the spare tire included with the vehicle as well.

Emissions Warranty

The Emissions Warranty for the Honda CR-V lasted for three years or 36,000 miles. As of 2022, this warranty has expired. The Emissions Warranty only applied to the vehicle’s original owner when they bought it from a certified Honda dealer.

The Clean Air Act requires manufacturers to cover the catalytic converter, engine computer, and on-board diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles. This coverage has also expired.

2012 Honda CR-V Warranty Extensions Available Upon Car Purchase

Owners could purchase Honda Care, an extended warranty, for an additional charge when they bought their 2012 Honda CR-V. It was available for purchase for up to eight years or 120,000 miles. This option for the 2012 Honda CR-V is no longer available because it has been more than eight years.

Before it expired, Honda Care offered extended bumper-to-bumper and powertrain warranty coverage.
