2020 Honda CR-V Factory Warranty
2020 Honda CR-V Basic Warranty
Your standard 2020 Honda CR-V Manufacturer’s Warranty, also called the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, offers you full bumper-to-bumper protection for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Any covered parts under warranty are repaired or replaced at no cost, so long as they break under normal operations while the warranty is in effect.
All warranty coverages begin when the vehicle is first delivered to a buyer or lessee. Even if you aren’t the original owner, you should still have some time on your warranty. Your Honda dealership can help you with the specifics of your coverage.
2020 Honda CR-V Powertrain Warranty
All 2020 Honda CR-Vs are covered by a Powertrain Warranty that protects your engine, transaxle, and drivetrain, as well as several other parts. It’s effective on front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive models and lasts for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. It includes repair and replacement costs for all covered parts , so long as they have a factory defect or something goes wrong under normal usage.
2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid Powertrain Warranty
The Honda CR-V Hybrid was introduced for the 2020 model year, and this model adds extra powertrain protection for the hybrid components including the high-voltage battery. This Hybrid Powertrain Warranty is good for eight years or 100,000 miles.
Corrosion Perforation Warranty
The 2020 Honda CR-V covers damage from rust perforation for five years under the Rust Perforation Limited Warranty. The coverage, however, is limited and only available to the original purchaser of the vehicle. Under the warranty, Honda will replace body panels that rust through from the inside out. This includes body panels that have been previously replaced.
Air Conditioning Warranty
The air conditioning system is covered under the Federal Emissions System Warranty, which covers the repair and replacement parts for three years or 36,000 miles (three years or 50,000 miles in California). Air conditioner refrigerant is covered separately for two years or 24,000 miles after the initial purchase.
Paint Warranty
Honda’s warranty coverage does not extend to paint problems for the 2020 CR-V. The only paint protection you receive is from the rust perforation coverage. This protection, as mentioned above, only applies to specific panels which rust from the inside out. Any other paint issues must be paid for out of pocket.
Battery Warranty
Your original 2020 Honda CR-V 12-volt battery is protected for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty coverage includes the cost of the new battery and labor costs for replacement. Any replacement batteries sourced from a Honda dealership after this are covered for up to 100 months, but coverage is prorated based on how long you own the battery.
The CR-V Hybrid features a separate Hybrid Powertrain Warranty that covers all hybrid system components (including the high-voltage battery pack) for eight years or 100,000 miles.
Tire Warranty
Tires are not covered by the standard warranty on your Honda CR-V. They are, however, covered by the tire manufacturer. If you want more information about your specific tires and their coverage, your local Honda dealership can help you contact the manufacturer.
Emissions Warranty
Federal standards require all vehicles to receive warranty protection for emissions systems. For most of the country, this means that your Honda CR-V will receive coverage for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. If you live in California or certain other states, your coverage is extended to three years or 50,000 miles.
The Clean Air Act requires the dealer to warranty your catalytic converter, engine computer, or onboard diagnostics systems for eight years, or 80,000 miles. You must experience failure due to a defect under proper operation to receive coverage on your emissions system. Your dealership can provide you with more information if you need it.

FAQs
The following are some of the most common questions people have about the 2020 Honda CR-V warranty:
What Items Are Typically Not Covered Under a Factory Warranty?
Usually, standard wear and tear items like brake pads, wiper blades, and the like will not be covered under your standard warranty. You also will not receive coverage for damage from accidents or abuse, and oil changes and other standard maintenance are not part of warranty coverage.
What Will Void My Car Warranty?
Your car’s warranty requires “proper operation.” Acts like reckless driving, driving off-road, overloading the vehicle beyond its recommended limits, failing to upkeep a standard maintenance schedule, and installing certain aftermarket parts may void warranty coverage.
Do I Have To Use a Dealership for Service?
You are not required to use a dealership for service to maintain your warranty. Using a dealership, however, will prevent complications and ensure that your CR-V is worked on by a certified, trained expert in Honda maintenance and repairs.
Are My Seat Belts Covered?
Honda does cover seat belts for 15 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. This warranty only covers seat belts that fail to function properly and pays for repairs and replacement. It does not cover issues like lack of comfort or poor appearance.
If your Factory Warranty has expired and you’re looking to reduce out-of-pocket expenses, be sure to check out the FIXD+CARCHEX Vehicle Protection Plan.
