What Your 2022 Honda Pilot Warranty Covers

Every new Honda vehicle, including the 2022 Honda Pilot, comes with a Factory Warranty, also known as a Manufacturer’s Warranty. We understand that automotive warranties can be confusing, which is why we’ve created this guide to explain what your warranty covers. We’ll go over what types of warranties your vehicle has and if you have coverage for items like paint, tires, and batteries.

Please note that warranty durations are listed in time or mileage, whichever comes first. For example, a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty expires in three years or when you hit 36,000 miles in less than three years.

2022 Honda Pilot Factory Warranty Coverage:

Factory Warranty

2022 Honda Pilot Basic Warranty

The 2022 Honda Pilot has a three-year, 36,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty that covers most parts that are defective under normal use. Exclusions include damage from everyday wear and tear, expendable maintenance items like filters, and most window glass damage. The warranty starts on the original date of delivery or leasing. If your Pilot has less than 36,000 miles, your warranty should still be valid.

2022 Honda Pilot Powertrain Warranty

The 2022 Honda Pilot has a five-year, 60,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty that covers the engine, transmission, transaxle, and front-wheel-drive system if they are defective under normal use. If your Pilot has less than 60,000 miles, your warranty should still be valid.

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

The 2022 Honda Pilot has a five-year, unlimited mileage Rust Perforation Warranty that covers any body panels that are rusted through from the inside out. This warranty is still valid if you are the vehicle’s original owner, and it’s nontransferable.

Air Conditioning Warranty

car air conditioner freshness

The 2022 Honda Pilot’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty covers air conditioner refrigerant for two years or 24,000 miles, unless refrigerant is required to perform another warranty repair. If you have less than 24,000 miles on your Pilot, this coverage is still in effect. All other components of the air conditioning are covered by the Federal Emissions Warranty or California Emissions Warranty.

Paint Warranty

The 2022 Honda Pilot’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover paint. The Corrosion Perforation Warranty does not cover rust caused by paint damage from road debris, and it does not cover paint matching.

Battery Warranty

The 2022 Honda Pilot’s original battery is covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty for the first three years or 36,000 miles that you own the vehicle.

Tire Warranty

The 2022 Honda Pilot’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover tires. The tires that came as original equipment on your Pilot may be warranted by their manufacturer. Tire warranty statements can be found on the Honda website.

Emissions Warranty

Air pollution from vehicle exhaust pipe on road. Pollution of environment

The 2022 Honda Pilot has a three-year, 36,000-mile Federal Emissions Warranty that covers emissions system components that are defective under normal use. If your Pilot has less than 36,000 miles, this warranty should still be valid. If you live in California or other certain states, your coverage may fall under the California Emissions Warranty instead, which lasts for three years or 50,000 miles.

Under the Clean Air Act, Honda must also cover the catalytic converter, engine computer, and onboard diagnostics for eight years or 80,000 miles. Additionally, the California Emissions Warranty provides seven years or 70,000 miles of warranty coverage if your vehicle fails an EPA-approved smog test. During this period, the automaker will diagnose, adjust, repair, or replace necessary components to bring your Pilot into compliance. Take your vehicle and a copy of the failed emissions report to an authorized Honda dealer for service. These states include:

  • California
  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Maine
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont
  • Washington

2022 Honda Pilot Warranty Extensions Available Upon Car Purchase

Honda Care Vehicle Service Contract (VSC) is available for the 2022 Honda Pilot if purchased from a Honda dealer before the New Vehicle Limited Warranty expires. This warranty extension covers parts like the engine, electrical system, and air conditioning for up to eight years or 120,000 miles. This service contract is transferrable to subsequent owners, so if you have a Pilot with VSC coverage and haven’t hit 120,000 miles, your warranty should still be valid.

2022 Honda Pilot Warranty Extensions Available Upon Car Purchase

Honda Care plans are still available for the 2022 Honda Pilot. However, for more extensive coverage, consider purchasing a plan from a third-party provider.
