The P0335 code indicates a malfunction in the crankshaft position sensor circuit, which monitors crankshaft position and rotation speed to control engine timing and fuel injection. The most common causes include a failed crankshaft position sensor, damaged wiring or connections, a faulty reluctor ring, or, in some cases, timing belt/chain issues that affect the sensor’s ability to read crankshaft position properly. In rare instances, the engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM) can be involved.
